Arnica- as prescribed?
Hi Girls,
Op is on Thursday, my PC have me arnica and an iodine wash to use 3 days prior to surgery. I can't remember what he said regarding how to take the arnica- i.e one/two/more per day?
It just says on his pre op paperwork 'as prescribed'. Is there a standard daily dose everyone works with or is it PS specific?
On back of dispenser it says 2 tabs every 2 hours for first 6 doses, then 2 per day for 7 days?
My PS said 3 days prior to surgery and 2 weeks after!
Confused x

Re: Arnica- as prescribed?
I was advised 2 weeks prior and two weeks after and 2 per day. It all depends on strength . I had to stop after a couple of days as my body didn't like them. Although I do think the bruising is down to the surgeon. I never really got any. And some people bruise more than others too. Best to follow surgeons advise though. Xxx

Thank you Anne. I wonder why your body didn't like them? I've been taking 2 every 2 hours as it says on back of the pack but I will call them to check! Xx

Take them as per the pack, but make sure you don't touch the pills, it contaminates them or something. To be honest, there's no science behind arnica. It's homeopathic. Me and hubs both took it for Ops, and both bruised like a peach. But then other girls swear by it.

I have no idea why I had an allergic reaction to them but it's just one of those things. I believe if your going to bruise your going to bruise, but if your surgeon is advising you take them then do it xx
