nicotine replacement
My surgeon never said I could not use replacement. Perhaps it's upto the individual surgeon . Xx

Re: nicotine replacement
It's the nicotine that stops you healing, so I was told to stay away from any nicotine based smoking cessation aids by all the PS that I had a consultation with. Maybe your surgeons idea of risks are different to others but I would do some serious research about affects of nicotine on healing, especially scars, before deciding whether to use them. But if you do nicotine free you can put theory to new underwear! And I used nicotine flavoured 0 nicotine juice on my vape with 0 nicotine menthol flavour and it took the edge off for me..8 weeks clean now !!

Re: nicotine replacement
When I went for my second consultation he was surprised I had gone cold turkey. But I used a e ciggarettes today and now I'm worried about my pre op tomorrow because they will cancel op. But my surgeon said to quit smoking which I did. No mention at all about NRT xxx

Re: nicotine replacement
I use an e-cig. I told my surgeon and anethatist ( wrong spelling :-) and they both seemed quite happy with it, didn't tell me to stop using it
I'm nearly 4 months post-op from ba, mastopexy and nipple reduction and all seems to be ok so far x

Re: nicotine replacement
One puff is not going to kill you, or stop you from healing, and they wont cancel your op! But the best thing is to stay away from all nicotine. But then that's life in general too! Stick with it as best you can.
Im 10days without one at the moment, so Im right there with you.

Re: nicotine replacement
I am so itchy for a ciggie sometimes and I know 1 little drag won't hurt but I am so weak willed, it will be just one more and then just some more. I really hope I have so much willpower after the surgery.
