BMI and BA complications Empty BMI and BA complications

Hi all, I am new to the forum, but not new to the idea of BA...
I have been to a few consults (MYA, Transform, Hospital Group) and am having some issues getting approved for surgery due to my BMI being too high.
The PCCs want me to lose between 7-10kg (sorry, Australian, don't know imperial) and this isn't really possible due to other health issues (not things that can be changed).
Does anyone know of a surgeon that will sign a waiver or something or accept a doctors cert to say that I am healthy otherwise? It must be possible due to people who get lipo etc and are massively overweight, and I am not so.
Looking to have the BA done Easter hols 2015 (I am a teacher), as I will finally have the money and need to start living my life and not lock myself away.
Any help would be great!

hi and welcome

thats about a stone and 5lbs I think but like you say sometimes its hard to loose with medical or health issues isnt it, working in a gym I see it all the time but just cause the bmi I high doesnt mean that you arent fit and healthy

I would suggest you put it like that to the surgeon and ask him to speak to the anethestist that will do the ba

I dont do well under a GA but I managed to get a surgeon and an anesthetist to work together and I had mine and a reop and looking at another reop but they have asked me to look into sedation lol (not happening)

hope that all makes sense and doesnt sound cheeky xx

Hi! My suggestion would be to forego the big name clinics and look into a private baaps registered surgeon, spire or bmi. They'll cost a bit more, but they are at the top of their game. They might be more open to discussing your pre existing issues, and would be able to advise on the GA etc. Also, you'd be speaking only with the surgeons, no PCCs. They're just glorified sales women, they have zero medical knowledge.

I hope you have more luck in your search.

Hey aussiegirl. Good advise there from Charlii.

Most of the commercial clinics simply aren't equipped to deal with any complication arising from health conditions and therefore as you've found will reject your application for that surgery.

Clinics such as Spire, BMI and other private surgeons, who use their Hospitals (Spire or BMI) have high dependency units, as well as other specialist surgeons in different fields available to them should things not go to plan and you need that bit of extra care.

I'm not saying anything bad will happen to you, but you should prepare and whether there's a health condition or not, it ALWAYS best not to put a price on your body hun and to go where it's safest for 'you'.

You may not get the all clear there from there either, but if any surgeons can take on. Higher risk patient it's a member of BAAPS or BAPRAS surgeon hun. Xx
