Have you had any complications? Empty Have you had any complications?

Post by LJK 20th May 2009, 8:33 pm

Hi, I have read the booklet about having a BA (from Transform), and there are various complications that can arise after having a BA. I wondered how many of you had suffered with any of these, ie capsular contraction, implants rupture or leaking, infection etc

Just trying to gauge what the chances are of it all going smoothly, or whether the chances of any of the complications are possibly higher than they tell you before you have a BA?

Many Thanks

I have not experienced any problems...Yet!!! I am six months post=op now. I think most surgeons or companies are very clear about any possible complications, also they can be verified by doing your own research. To be honest I think they focus more on any possible complications than good results...need to cover themselves to abibe with GMC etc. rules and regulations. Hope that eases your mind.

i had complications, firstly i had a haematoma (internal bleed post op) then developed an infection which went on to cause the implant to expel from my body and so i had to have it removed, it is a very rare situation to be in but i am proof that it does happen unfortunately :pale: x

I also went with Transform and I've been fine, aside from stretchmarks!

Hi, I was told CC rate is about 2% now with cohesive gel implants, not sure re infection rates. But the cohesive gel implants can't leak even if they did rupture in some way (eg car accident). It's a shame people only hear about the horror stories and then it can seem a high risk op, but thousands of women have implants every year without complications too.

Have you contacted Mybreast? My surgeon went through all possible complications and rates at my first consult.

Thank you so much for all your replies. Generally it seems that majority of you have been complication free, so thats really reasuring.

Are all silicone implants made with cohesive gel? or do you have to request those types of implants?

i'm taking my time to decide whether to go ahead with a ba or not, because if i do decide to go ahead, then it wouldn't be fair to pull out again. Poor husband doesn't know if his coming or going.

They never do, poor blokes!

As they say, it's better to be safe than sorry. Spend as much time as you need researching, not only surgeons, but implants too. then, when you think you've done all you can you can decide what you'd like to do.

And, yeps, I got stretchmarks on my boobs. You can harly see them, but I wasn't suprised, it was a big increase!

Yes all silicone breast implants used now are cohesive, some a higher grade than others x
