The submerging scars is to.stop a possible infection an.infection can be bad and sometimes the implant on.infected side needs to come out for up to.6 month.xx

hi all
thanks for your  concerns,, I did ring today as was upset baffled and annoyed . I was told firstly I can do normal things like wash pots general household normal things but with caution.  She said if I was to take iron board out cupboard do it carefully. If I was to hoover do it gently . I can get a bath(not full obviously) nd  to rub my cream on for the scars. She said I can drive but my muscles may hurt so be careful. Also that everyone different in healing and consultants have different ways they do things in recovery. She basically said its ok to do normal things in the house but think before I do it and take my time for the next few weeks.  Obviously not to swim not to do heavy lifting and gym (which I was aware off anyway)  Just the general day today things is fine and again rest in between if I feel I not upto it. So its all confusing to me  .  I just don't no what to think at minute .Shall  do the normal day to day things with caution or do I sit on sofa for another week or to to recover ?????  I am feeling all mixed up about this, Can you tell me please what you was told by your consultants as its bothering me so bad this. I really don't want to do wrong things and def  DONOT  want to cause infection or do any harm in recovery. It will be quite interesting to hear what you was told because looking at some off the replys it seems totally oppersite to mine. Your comments will be greatly appreciated..  xxxxx

best wishes all  disappoint  disappoint  disappoint  disappoint

You can do household duties but light! , if it doesn't need to be done or if your other half can Hoover once and evening that's fine. You don't need to do it. !
Just approach with caution. Also was this nurse or surgeon advise?
I'd always be prepared to heed surgeons advise rather than nurses.

Just remeber you're healing Hun that's all. It's major surgery , just be gentle and you'll be fine.

And sitting on the sofa for a whole week will do your healing no good either. You need to move around too. Only if up and short walk around house or round the garden/park just no lifting or pushing!

hi
thanks for that
It was consultant last night that said can do my normal things. Today it was the breast nurse. She said different consultants say different things.  I am  feeling so confused about it all. I am using my common sense in all this but  find it hard  that all recovery seems to differ   and I can not see how . ITS SOOOO  WORRYING ME.  I was going to go out in car today but didn't end up going as was so mixed up even after speaking to her. I am bothered  about infection with my healing now to.   I think I may just chill for another coupe days lol  Or wrap myself n cotton wool lol    thank you again once again so glad for this site

Well all becoming so clear as to why I ended up with two infections one serious in my C-section scar was given no aftercare advice at all and did everything I wasn't suppose to!

If you can have a few extra days joanne of just relaxing taking it easy take it, even though I have been left baby less till Saturday I cant sit still for longer than two hours at a time but trust me your boobies will tell you if you are doing to much lol. but I find not much seems to bother them now (not doing heavy lifting or anything yet) and I am doing house tidying, sorting, washing just trying to watch how I am doing it, Saturday will be the day I am thrown back into normality and tbh cant wait xx

O dear I hope you are ok now. Sorry to hear that. It must be awful for you been away from your child but not long now for you and you will be able to have a cuddle ay
I just amazed at does and don't. I no a lot is commonsense as you properly no yourself but I seem to have been thrown 2 ways lol . I am going to rest tomorrow and chill then maybe venture out Thursday and do a few light household stuff. And mite have a bottle wine lol or two lol .
My boobies seem ok they ache a little and my scars feel very sore but it's my back giving me grief but I think it's the tensing I have been doing when in discomfort and pain. I keep realizing I am doing it then I let my shoulders drop then I notice it again .think I will go have massage but will have to have it sitting up as carnt lay on boobies for a few weeks lo
All the best in your recovery and I hope you find a way to manage .
I will look for your post to see how you are getting on

Theres no right or wrong, you just have to pause a moment before you do anything. I didn't lift a finger for 3 weeks, but that's because I could get away with it! I also had the luxury of working from home weeks 2-3, so I didn't need to drive until after wk3! You've just got to feel out what you can do. And taking it easy doesn't mean complete inactivity, go out for walks, make yourself a cuppa, light tidying. Just don't overdo it.

Its going to take a bit longer than a few weeks before you can lay and have a massage. I had one in Sept, so around 4m post. Needed rolled towels above and below to prop me up (almost like a hernia cushion!!). My Osteo wouldn't touch me for 5-6m either. Its only now that Im totally comfortable laying on my front.
