Wow day13 and resume normal? That's ever so soon, ! Basic hoovering shouldn't be done for 6 weeks as you really do push and pull your chest .!
Excerise shouldn't be done for again at least 6 weeks!
I'm very shocked Hun that you've been given the go ahead for all things so early.

I am happy for you, but wow that's quick. I am 4 and a bit weeks and there is no way I could resume normal life yet. I tried hoovering a little today and couldn't manage it properly so I gave up. Xx

I think you need to listen to your body Hun, hoovering IS heavy pushing and pulling, some ladies can't even drive till 14 days post op!
If it hurts stop! Very light house chores yes but you may well start to feel at the end of the day your boobs ache and are a tad swollen once you start resuming activity x

Just make sure you listen to your body as there is so much healing still going on inside that you don't want to damage by overdoing things too soon. Xx

Re: BEEN GIVEN THE ALL CLEAR TO RESUME LIFE AS NORMAL
I will listen to my body as I no myself I wont feel comfortable doing certain things. I think I am going to ring nurse in morning as I am bit worried now,, As said its just normal things he referring to like driving bath housework ect. he said no heavy lifting exercise though but I told him my hoover was as light as a brush which it is he said fine.. I don't want to do things which could cause any problems at all. so I think now I will just ring tomorrow . and make sure I wasn't listening wrong.

Bath? A shallow one waist height yes, with flannel wash for upper body, or shower but you shouldn't fully submerge your incisions laying I. A bath just yet, for risk of infection.

Re: BEEN GIVEN THE ALL CLEAR TO RESUME LIFE AS NORMAL
Gee this is really worrying me as from the end of this week there are some things I will need to so and have no choice :( I think if most things genuinely take 4-6 weeks recovery time surgeons should be refusing to operate on ladies with babies because it's just unrealistic to stick to even with all the help in the world ;( xx

Re: BEEN GIVEN THE ALL CLEAR TO RESUME LIFE AS NORMAL
It is difficult I agree . I am not going mad at all . But just the simple things been able to move around wash pots and get bath wash hair is a bit normality . It's comments sense not to go mad. But after some comments on here I am going to ring up as I am worried now these simple things I have been told I can resume do not seem clear to me and these girls on here no what they are talking about without a doubt. I don't want to do things to cause me harm. It's comments sense to do everything with caution in such early days and not to do the things like swim lift ect but I am worried about simple things now . I can't ask him everything I want to do and about every move I will be marking but I need some clear answers cos I so trust these girls xx

Re: BEEN GIVEN THE ALL CLEAR TO RESUME LIFE AS NORMAL
Washing some plates and washing your hair is fine, it's all doing with what you feel able but just not pushing it.
Hoovering is a no no though.
And as for babies, my daughter was only a few months old with my 2 nd and third Bas, you can still look after your babies /children a week on it's just about being a bit more careful and cautious, you can still pick them up just more carefully and not constantly .
For toddlers you can sit on the floor or on a sofa and still have cuddles and contact x

Re: BEEN GIVEN THE ALL CLEAR TO RESUME LIFE AS NORMAL
Thanks mrsball that's reassuring to hear , do you think pushing the pram would be ok from around 10 days post op? I thought that would be much easier than carryin baby in car seat & driving when I need to nip out as that's mega heavy!!! xxxmrsball wrote:Washing some plates and washing your hair is fine, it's all doing with what you feel able but just not pushing it.

Re: BEEN GIVEN THE ALL CLEAR TO RESUME LIFE AS NORMAL
One thing I think is key here - just because you're allowed, doesn't mean you can. I was allowed to drive after 48hrs, but I couldn't until 3wk. I was allowed to start running again at 6wk, but no way I could have until 3m. You really do have to listen to your body. Cleaning the house can wait, or someone else can do it. Take it a little at a time.

Re: BEEN GIVEN THE ALL CLEAR TO RESUME LIFE AS NORMAL
Again pushing a pram , not really, and carrying a car seat no way! Sorry Hun to be bearer of bad news but honestly you really do need to not push yourself, your boobs are so new and need healing time.
Could you maybe ask a family member to do a school run or to watch your baby whilst you do the school run for another week , do online shopping so no need for carrying and you definatly won't be able to push a trolley full of shopping!
If you don't need to go out with the baby don't even if it's just for another week to ask for some help out with school runs, shopping etc. x

Re: BEEN GIVEN THE ALL CLEAR TO RESUME LIFE AS NORMAL
Definitely no hoovering, ironing or resuming life as normal at 13 days post op, the other girls are right.. no baths either, usually you have to wait until the 12 week mark for that. As Mrs Ball said, you can wash dishes, do light house hold chores etc but definitely not 'normal' living until at least 6 weeks. You can feel fine, but you're very much healing internally for months x
No pushing prams or carrying car seats at 10 days post op either, way too early. x

No, it's a shower you'll more than likely be given the go ahead for. No baths for 12 weeks generally, due to risk of infection x

You'll hopefully be able to shower or if bathe just a waist high bath with a flannel wash up top.
No submerging incisions for around 6-12 weeks x
