Saline or Silicone? &Surgeons within the Midlands?
Hi all,
I am currently a 34AA (squeezing in to a 32A bra so I can buy bras out of the adult ranges!) looking to be a C/D by the end of the year.
My budget is £6000 all in (including consultation fees etc) but would be looking to spend no more that £300 on consultations.
I am unsure whether to choose Saline or Silicone, I am more inclined to go with Saline due to health, but I would be devastated if the implants looked bulging and silly!
Can anybody recommend any surgeons in the Midlands? I have a consultation with MYA on Thursday and plan to see at least 3 more before choosing my surgeon.
Could anyone give me any advice on what to look out for when choosing a surgeon? Any qualifications etc? And what to ask when I attend the consultation.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Look forward to hearing from you guys......

Hi and welcome.
You've set a good budget Hun and remember any consulation fees you pay out IF you go with that surgeon it should be taken off the final price of surgery.
As for implant types you'll be offered silicone Hun, not saline, it's not widely used in the uk.
The silicone implants are rigoursly tested and have come a long way in the past few years. There is very little that they will have a negative impact on your health.
As for seeing surgeons in your area have you tried a spire, Nuffield, or bmi hospital which use bapas registered surgeons.
These surgeons are top of the pack. And highly respected.
They will charge a consulation fee however again you may find that money well spent with what you get out of it,
Use the bapas website to search surgeons in your area, or if you know of spire , Nuffield or bmi hospital in your area to give them a call and ask for a list of surgeons and possible consulation with one of them x
Look foward to following your ba journey x

Re: Saline or Silicone? &Surgeons within the Midlands?
Saline isn't an implant widely used used here in the UK Emma. They're widely used in America due to the fact that silicone was banned over there for a good few years whilst further testing was done to ensure the safety of silicone. Once the Americans caught up with us Brits and realised that silicone IS safe lol, they're now using silicone over there and they're rapidly taking over the use of saline because of the more natural look and feel they have to them.
The PIP scandal has probably scared many women about using silicone implants, but I assure you PIPs weren't filled with silicone, they were found to be illegally filled with mattress filling. It was a terrible thing to have happened to the industry but mostly to the women, but from the bad there has been some good with hopefully more regulation of implants and also Nagor implants and another manufacturer whose name I can't recall off hand setting up further research offering a pound toward it for ever implant they sell. So from such disgraceful trading and behaviour its little heard of the good that's coming from that and I can assure, they were a one of a kind implant. No other implants currently on the market in the UK are unsafe and not fit for purpose. They're ALL safe hun, so please rest assured there.
There are different types on the market here for you choose from if you'd like to research them for yourself.
The first are the 4th generation silicone textured implants. These are 95% filled implants.
The second are the 5th generation silicone textured implants. These are 100% filled and the newest of the two
Of the two above the 4th generation implants are the softer, but... The 5th generation have a lower complication rate of of capsular contracture and rippling.
The third are the newest on the market over here and only used by surgeons qualified to be using them due to the skill required in placing them. I've only seen BAAPS surgeons able to place them 'so far'. They are the polyeurothane implants. Of all the implants these have the very lowest capsular contracture rate and from what I've personally seen here with Nagor being the most widely used by BAAPS surgeons, these seem to be slowly taking over and are a very popular choice right now.
Good luck in your research babe. It really is the key to a great boob job! Xx

Hiya,
When looking to book a consultation check to see if the surgeon works at a few places and have your consultation at the place that is the cheapest for consultations , you don't have to have the op there but can be a way of saving some money during the consultation process
Do take pictures of the look/ size you are after to show the surgeon what you are hoping to achieve as one persons perception of size and look can be completely different from another.
The Breast Augmentation Information section has all the info you will need to help you prepare and get the most out of your consultation.
Good luck XXX

Re: Saline or Silicone? &Surgeons within the Midlands?
Are you seeing a surgeon or just a Pcc on Thursday hunny?
Just be aware a Pcc has NO Medical background and is ultimately a sales lady.
She may try and persuade you to book there and then on the day or by securing dates with deposits.
Any offers that she says are just for today are sales tactics they will be there if you decided to book in weeks to come if you still want to go with them.
The other 2 surgeons will have only secretaries to deal with which is better. And you'll have direct contact with the surgeons rather than going through a Pcc.

I would imagine it's a PCC as it id my first appointment.. I am seeing them more as an experience really. I have other preferences to them. But I will certainly keep it in mind!
My Nana's hairdresser has actually used Mr Mark Henley I found out earlier today (what a coincidence!) and she was thrilled with the results. I will definitely be booking a consultation with him and let you know how I get on.

Re: Saline or Silicone? &Surgeons within the Midlands?
Be aware that a PCC is just a glorified saleswoman hun. They are there to sell a product. They have no medical training and will not be able to advise on any matter regarding your surgery.
Any advise should only ever come from a surgeon. Its actually been proven that 1 in 5 women who have taken advise regarding their surgery from salespeople have had problems afterwards, so these appointments as far as you're concerned are pretty pointless Emma.
For the PCC they will want to entice you, maybe discuss offers, or suggest that they have dates that need filling for a discounted price or possibly other offers - IGNORE THEM. Don't be rushed or pursuaded into signing anything lovely.
They'll ask which procedure you're wanting, may tell you they've had the same and how happy they are - its all happy! Happy! Happy! They WANT your money babe.
Los do be aware of this. The ONLY person that's of any interest to you at all regarding your surgery is the surgeon. Xx

Hi I'm from the Midlands too.
Not sure if this would help but I would recommend transpire cosmetic surgery. Had my back & uplift with them in November & had such a good experience. Nearest clinic is in bham, you have your first consultation with a surgeon, its free & no pressure sales too.
If you would like anymore info I would be more than happy to help. X

Hey,
If you're wiling to travel to stoke, I can recommend my surgeon Mr Prinsloo (nuffield newcastle under lyme). Really friendly and also with nuffield you get lifetime aftercare so if you have a problem you can go back and if the nurses can't sort it you can see him when you want not like the big clinics where the surgeons are only there certain times of a month
