Help!!! Newby and going for BA in 2days petrified
Hi Ladies,
I am totally new on here and i go into the Glasgow Nuffieild on Thursday 12th Dec for my BA. I went to see 4 surgeons in total and (3 said dual plane and gave me no choice of overs) the surgeon i chose was ben chew via te nuffield and he says i should be going over as i have enough breast tissue. I have millions of questions!!! CAn anyone help answer.....
I am 5ft 9 and a size 10/12 at 10st 7llbs currently 34b (quite nice boobs just small) - i used to have big boobs a few years ago when i was two stone heavier but now they are just small and have no fullness in the upper pole and i wear big padded bras. I want to be a full d/dd but natural looking and full on the upper part. I have no children but i the future would lile to (5 years or so away and dont want to hold off from ba any longer) I am getting 415cc high profie round allergan implants
my questions are:
* rippling - really scared of this and thinking i should go under muscle so you cant see it
* cc - is this more common infront of muscle - no idea if i am covered for this with nuffield (i have no paperwork)
* do they look horrendus for first few months untill they drop - surgeon showed me pics and they look really weird with some girls (implant sites really hight and it looks like the breast is all full at top)
* should i go uder of over if i have the choice - i thought if i am plannying on losinng half stone to 3/4 stone and maybe have children in future rippling and drooping will be less obvious with unders?....
* i have been advised my nipple will be different as currently i have a lot of fullness below so nipple poins upwards wherewas when he fill upper pole nipple will be more downwards - does this look weird?....
* i am hoping high profile is right for me as two other surgeons said moderate or i have risk of double bubble.
So sorry to have all these questions. It really doesnt help when all the surgeons have been totally different - one thing is know if the surgeon i have chosen has a good reputation and well respected in BA i believe but ultimately he will only give me reccommendtions and it is my choice he says he will do unders if i really want (dual plane type 111) but he feels i do not need this!
Hopefully you have not fell aslee after reading all this.
Many THanks
Karen

Hey Karen i've just replied to another post you've put on, you need to trust your surgeon, Ben Chew has fantastic reviews. I'm currently sitting in Nuffield after surgery yesterday, you'll love it, really enjoy your day hun & try relax, i know that's easier said than done, but they'll make you feel so special here. Feel like i've spent night in a hotel. Good Luck xxxx

Overs are always the first choice of placement if you have enough breast tissue so of your surgeon said you have enough to have overs then this is fine, cc can happen with which ever placement... It's just how your body reacts to the implant.
At first the implants look round and can look stuck on, this is because your body isn't used to having this implant and so it is held tightly... I wouldn't say it looks horrendous though! It takes around 6 months to see the final result but you will see changes all the time and maybe around the 4 weeks mark they start to loose the round look.
Profile is dependant on your measurements, the implant needs to fit within your breast width diameter so again this isn't a choice but what your surgeon decides.
I'm sure the other ladies will be a long too with some great advice xx

Re: Help!!! Newby and going for BA in 2days petrified
Hi Karen, welcome to the forum. I've had my morning tea, so no falling asleep! Lets go one by one:
*Rippling - As far as I know this can happen with both overs and unders, although reduced with unders. There are ways to reduce it further, with the type of implant and total fill of it.
*CC - also can happen with either placement. Again, ways to lower the risk include the type of shell the implant has (textured vs smooth), but most of the time its really a case of you get it or you dont. You will more than likely be covered in the first X years for a certain grade of CC with the Nuffied. Please do phone them and find out all the exact details of your aftercare.
*Frankenboob - immediately after your BA the implants are held very high and tight, and can look quite odd. This is perfectly normal. Mine looked square! As you start healing though, they will drop into their pocket and soften up and start too look more boob like. How long it takes depends on your body.
*Placement - I really cant tell you whether to go under or over. This has to be a decision made between you and your surgeon. Id say give him a call and have a good chat with him again before letting him slice and dice. The only thing I would say is that if you do a lot of upper body/chest work outs, Overs are probably better. Mention this to him.
*Nipples - If you're having a round implant, the position of your nipple wont change, it'll just have a larger breast behind it. It'll look weird and point down during the frankenboob stage, but as the breast drops, it will go back to its original position.
*Profile - This is normally to do with your Breast Width Diameter. If you have a small BWD, a higher profile is normally used so that it isnt too wide for your body. Again, this is something your surgeon will use his expertise to guide you with.
I hope this helps! You have to be 100% confident in your surgeon and the decisions you make together. If theres anything you are unhappy about going in, do not be afraid to say wait, and discuss it further.

misskaren wrote:* rippling - really scared of this and thinking i should go under muscle so you cant see it
most women whether they have overs or partials have a small degree of rippling. Its actually VERY rare however for visual rippling to be apparent. Infact in 4 years here I don't know of any women that have had any 'visual rippling' at all... Many however do have some rippling that may be able to be felt on the inside cleavage when leaning forward or the outer sides of the breast when leaning forward, that can be felt, but not at all seen.. And when I say 'felt' you really have to feel for it. Its something anyone else would notice at all.
* cc - is this more common infront of muscle - no idea if i am covered for this with nuffield (i have no paperwork)
Yes, CC risks can be lessened by going partially under the muscle... However the benefits have to weighed up over risks when choosing placements. For example, you may achieve a much better look from going over the muscle 'for you' so what's more important? How they look, or the risk involved?
its also important to weigh up the fact that CC is something that can happen to any one of us at any time after the implant being implanted - so if you're gonna get it hun.... You're gonna get it.
* do they look horrendus for first few months untill they drop - surgeon showed me pics and they look really weird with some girls (implant sites really hight and it looks like the breast is all full at top)
I wouldn't say they look horrendous, but they can look odd. I think for many of us we have visions that were going to immediately wake to these magnificent boobs of our dreams when in reality... That's not the case at all. For those we have to wait and allow for our bodies to go through a healing process and the time that takes for each of us differs greatly. Some may have boobs settled by 2 weeks and for others it may be 6 months... Both is very normal, its just al about our bodies and the time it will take to heal.
* should i go uder of over if i have the choice - i thought if i am plannying on losinng half stone to 3/4 stone and maybe have children in future rippling and drooping will be less obvious with unders?....
Its said if you have enough breast tissue that overs are always the best way forward.
Losing the small amount of weight intended isn't going to have an aesthetic impact on your boobs at all regardless of placement so I wouldn't worry about that.
Having ng children however.... Well, overs or partials, this may well have an impact depending on your skins elasticity and you won't know how that's going to be affected until you've been there or got the T-shirt. If you're going to sag after pregnancy, you're going to sag regardless of placement and for every complication that present themselves for overs there's another for partials babe. Partial do not come without their own risks.
* i have been advised my nipple will be different as currently i have a lot of fullness below so nipple poins upwards wherewas when he fill upper pole nipple will be more downwards - does this look weird?....
If you're having a BA alone your nipple height isn't going to change at all. You'll have a larger version of what you have now... However, if your surgeon plans on revising your breast breast to bring the nipple down then this may resolve the problem. If your surgeons has told you a BA alone will correct this then have it written in your notes by your surgeon that if your concern over your nipple he aight isn't resolved he will offer a free re-op to revise this for you. If your surgeon is confident in his ability to do this for you he'll have no problem agree to write that in your notes. Its important to have it written in your notes though.
* i am hoping high profile is right for me as two other surgeons said moderate or i have risk of double bubble.
You're 2 days away from surgery now and it seems the majority of surgeons were in agreement of a different surgery plan for you and yet you chose the one surgeon who offered completely different to the others. In doing this now babe, it leaves you with little option now but to do as you're going to ask above and that's to ensure your surgeon is in agreement that if the high profile were to cause a complication after 2 other surgeons suggesting it would then he would be happy to revise this for you 'written in your notes'.
You had your reasons for your choice of surgeon sweetheart and he must have instilled some confidence in you to have chosen him over the majority who were all of a differing opinion, but it does seem you have concerns still at the back of your mind, so to protect yourself, just do as I said sweetie and ensure that your surgeon is happy to write in your notes that if the differing opinions he has were to result in a complication that he would be happy to revise this free of charge. Once you have this in writing in your notes there's no going back then for your surgeon and you then have that full security of being covered. Please don't accept just being told so. It takes a moment for them to write it down, so get it writing babe, xx
