Petrified!
My BA is booked 4th of April and I'm petrified something is going to go wrong.nEveryone keeps telling me how routine it is but I stil worry that I might get a bad infection or, I know it sounds silly, be damaged for life.
Someone please talk me out of this! X

Re: Petrified!
Babe, there will always be a risk that something will go wrong.. so I'm not going to tell you how it's all 100% completely risk-free. However, the risks are very low and breast augmentation surgery is performed every single day around the world. I don't know that statistics but I do know that it is very unlikely for you to be damaged for life or develop a rare infection.
It sounds to me like you shouldn't have booked your operation before being completely calm and satisfied in your mind that you definitely want it.
I can't really empathise with you as I didn't have any fear of the op.. my excitement took over haha!
I can tell you babe that should be fine! Have you consulted your coordinator or surgeon about your concerns? If not, maybe you should give them a ring so they can go through every aspect of the operation with you with a fine tooth comb so you know everything that is going to happen!
I wish I could tell you that absolutely no risks are involved but unfortunately I cant.. however, I will tell you that my operation was the most fantastic and magical thing I have ever done. I would never in my life change any bit of it. I can also tell you that the recovery was so much easier than I thought it would be (I had unders aswell!)
Talk to your surgeon and the other girls on here:) From my personal experience it was the best experience of my life.. and I actually enjoyed the whole anaesthetic part of the procedure haha :)
Take care, lovely!! I really hope you find out everything you're fearful about and I really hope you become excited about your op!
Congratulations on booking your date and good luck xxxxxxx

Re: Petrified!
Aww I know how that feels, I went from being scared to excited, to in denial I was having it done at all!
Have you had your consultation with your surgeon yet? I found that was the turning point when it was all real and all systems go!
But you are in the right place here, there is soo much info on here, I wish I had found it sooner myself x

Re: Petrified!
You're experiencing a case of the pre-op jitters Rachel
This is something that's VERY common as your surgery date nears hun and can cause these irrational thoughts that run through your head and often make you think you want to run a mile
But you're not going to run a mile Rachel and you ARE going to be OK and you most certainly won't be damaged for life hun.
What's helps many women get through these bouts of the jitters is to read the stories many women have left here for us to read about their surgery day in the stories section.
Many women who just before their surgery felt just the same as you do do now, but woke from the GA with the biggest smile ever and ALL are happy Rachel. Reading the happiness, the excitement and the delight of these women from reading their stories is VERY contagious and its not long long before you start thinking about the reasons why you started this journey Rachel and that the stories your reading right now... When you have your special day YOUR story will be right there too. Happy and thinking back to this day and seeing that they really were just the jitters and as hard as it is going through the pre-op jitters... The end reward is very much worth it.
Talking too helps lots Rachel, so please ask anything you're not feeling comfortable about and we will give you an honest response so you know exactly what to expect sweetheart. Xx

Re: Petrified!
Thanks so much ladies, I just needed reassurance. I get so excited reading this forum and your stories I should know better. I have had two meetings with my surgeon and have complete faith in him so will try to chill out.
I've been looking at bras this eve which helps with the excitement over the fear! I will keep reading on here and keep finding as much as I can to put me at ease Xxxx

Re: Petrified!
Hiya Rachel ,
Welcome to Breast buddies! you may want to pop on the 'Newbies say hello' section so everyone can say hello & welcome you.
As you have your booked your op you may also like to add your details to the 'calendar entries' section that way everyone can wish you good luck on the day.
It is really an emotional roller coaster in the lead up to having a BA , it's the fear of the unknown and understandable , you're doing the right thing reading up as much as possible The more prepared you are the less there is to worry about and you can get down to being excited and looking forward to your new boobs! XXX
