Re: pain relief
Ha ha ha, it's auto correct on ipad ;)
Yes, you can buy Solphadine over the counter and its amazing and kind to your stomach.
Granadilla meant tramadol made me so ill that I was being sick for 3 days so then they just gave me paracetamol with cocodamol which is in Solphadine and it straight away worked!! I always buy it as dissolvable tablets in water so that it works quicker, but u can buy it as tablets too xx
I'm better hun, I think nose and breast op was just too much for me and I panicked but Cookie looked after me xx
Good luck for your op xx

Re: pain relief
Aww I love you girls... I'm here for you all ANYTIME
The codiene is what I found to be the worst for sickness, I can tolerate one Tramadol but not two and the co codamol... Well that's codiene also.
So maybe try just taking one Tramadol instead of two and see how you get on with that.
With most opioids though there can be sickness, so its just a case of finding the right pill and dosage for 'you' babe. Xx

Re: pain relief
I take oramorph everyday Tink. Its great for pain I agree.
Have a chat with the anaesthetist too about sickness so that's sorted and I'm sore your surgeon will be able to help with the pain meds - you should however find this recovery a lot better than your last one anyway hun, so don't worry too much

Re: pain relief
yeah we have it in the house for Ellie if she needs it but we VERY rarely give her it, we can tell with her body language etc if she really needs it
I will speak to my surgeon on Fri and see what he thinks xx

Re: pain relief
I must admit I was extremely lucky and managed on paracetamol from the day after surgery. I did had one dose of the 'hard core stuff' straight after my op in hospital and dislike the effect so much I said I didn't want it again!

Re: pain relief
Nope. The discs in my back have budged resting on my spinal nerve. An operation would be a possibility but unfortunately not for me... I have sarcoids on my lungs so because of the state of my lungs because the operation means bypassing my lungs to get to the place needed in the consultants words - I wouldn't survive that those of surgery... So its a no-go and I just have to deal with it. The morphine does help to a degree but I'm always in pain and there are days when its completely unbarable, but my only alternative is to be doped up with more meds (I was bed bound and couldn't string a sentence together 3 years ago) I've Foyt hard to lower my pain meds so I could have some quality of life - I exchanged pain meds for pain, but I can talk and get about in my wheelchair now and no matter what.. I'm never going back. This is all the meds I have to take every day just to get through Tink
I can't have physio either incase more pressure is applied to the nerve due to more movement and could cause paralysis... So I just out me best face on and get on with it Tink... That's my life and that's how I deal with it... This place though is VERY therapeutic for you. I don't think any of you know just how much it means to see you girls happy after recovery - best drug ever!
I hate knowing kids suffer pain though. My son was on morphine for similar as your daughter but only in hospital.. So the poor little things must suffer terribly. I'm glad its been a while though since she's needed it. Xx

My goodness cookie!
I thought my dad's medicine cupboard was full, but your collection is staggering! You must be a very determined and resilient lady to keep a brave face and give everyone on here as much time, dedication and patience as you do, while dealing with what must be pretty much constant pain,?!

Re: pain relief
I'm very determined seashell... Docs wanted me sedated last time I went for an assessment, but there's no way I'd sacrifice what quality of life I have to being stuck in bed all day and not being able to communicate. That was the worst for me and a very dark time and no matter what life has in store for me... I'm going down fightin' haha xx
Re: pain relief
Bless you you're a a walking chemist cookie!
As for pain relief I hate taking meds I had diclofenic and paracetamol. I come off the diclofenic quite quickly and just survived on paracetamol.
I can't take codiene or tremadol as they make me feel so ill.

Re: pain relief
I totally agree with you Cookie. Imagine being in a state of sedation 24/7?! Life is too short and needs living, not just existing. I feel stronger about it the older I get.
My OH's mum died when he was 19, she was only 7 years older than I am now! My dad has just finished treatment for prostate cancer, so I am very much "if we can, let's do it" kind of person!
