side sleeping
Hiya,
On tuesday at review appointment my surgeon said I could start sleeping on my side but if uncomfortable to move back onto my back.
M still in my sports bras and did try tuesday night and last night - think I can manage a couple of hours before my left boob starts hurting and so have to go onto my back, I can't seem to side sleep on my righthand side which I did before hand.

Re: side sleeping
It just takes time hon, I was side sleeping after a couple of weeks but like you only on one side and it did make the boob aches. It helps using a v pillow to rest them on. I stopped using the v pillow after about 3 weeks but kept swapping from side to side. It's taken right up until the last week or so to be able to stay all night on either side...... Even almost on my front now! I'm still in sports bra or Macom at night too bit don't see my Ps until next week to give me the go ahead to go naked!

Re: side sleeping
Well, my surgeon has said he's happy for me to sleep without bra but I don't think all the swelling has gone and I don't trust myself yet.

Re: side sleeping
When the nurse says it you have to take it with a pinch of salt. Just because you are allowed to, doesnt mean your body is ready for it yet. If you're naturally a side sleeper, your body will eventually go back to doing it itself. Dont try and force it, just get as comfortable as possible. I was about 2months before I could get a full night, and Im only just now taking the sock out from between them, otherwise they used to ache like a muthaB in the mornings. Stick with the macom at night, and maybe try a nice fluffy sock between them, or sleeping with one side of the V between them for support. But it'll happen naturally eventually.

Re: side sleeping
I'm a side sleeper and I'm 6 and a half weeks and only now feeling comfortable on my side... Like charli said although your ok to it doesn't mean your ready and when you are it will happen without you realising...
The rolled up sick inbetween really does help because it makes you feel much more supported but there's no rush xx

Re: side sleeping
Great advise from Charlii babe.
If you're very uncomfortable, go back to your back for a few days and then try again. The reason you're having such difficulty is as Charleii suggested - your body just isn't ready.
When you do start the transition use your V-pillow to help you. If you have the v-pillow so your head lays on a horizontal side with the other side coming in toward your body you'll find this creates a gap for your boob. You can then cuddle the v-pillow and the sock between your boobs helps keep them stable too. In this position you won't add the weight of your body onto your lower boob nor will you be able to roll over onto it. Xx
