Pre op tips please ;O)
Girls
Can you let me know what you are advised to do before surgery as all MyBreast have said is to wash my hair the night before. Do I have to take off my nail polish, can I wear deoderant, make-up (pretty sure not) etc. I'm also planning on having a shower and washing my hair on the morning of surgery (cleaner for longer), is that ok?.
Thanks in advance :)

Hi Sarahsbabies,
I had to remove all nail polish -your nail beds turn blue if you're not getting enough oxygen so they need to be able to check it.
I didnt wear any make-up going in as I knew I wouldnt be in the form to remove it later!
I washed my hair that morning but i didnt condition it as I get less days out of my hair with conditioner.
I was only in for a day so I just brought some wipes, moisturiser ,hairbrush and deodarant. :)
Best of luck girlie, you will do brilliantly! Its the best thing I have ever done and I'm only week 4 PO! x

From Mybreast Essential guide for patient care: Pre surgery intructions
x
- Do not take any aspirin or related ant-inflammitory pain killers (ie ibuprofen, Nurofen) for two weeks prior to op, just take paracetamol
- So not eat, chew, suck any food or beverages 6 hours before your surgery, this includes water, gum, mints and sweets
- if you smoke follow surgeons instructions prior to surgery, smoking significantly reduces your bodys ability to heal effectively
- Do not drink alcoholic drinks 24 hours prior to op
- Wash your body with anti-bacterial soap the night before surgery, helps rid body of naturally occuring Staph bacteria found on skin surface
- Remove all nail polish (fingers and toes), if you wear acrylics ask your ps if you have to remove them
- Please inform us immediately if you become pregnant
- Please keep us informed of your general state of health immediately prior to surgery i.e if you have caught a cold, infection or flu
x
Re: Pre op tips please ;O)
Didn't they send you the booklet "Essential guide for patient care? It's about 20 odd pages with advice on when to stop eating/drinking, washing body with anti-bacterial soap, removing nail polish, starting to take arnica the day before surgery (one dose one pill) etc etc
Might be worth nagging them for that because I think it's quite important that you get that information ...

No they didn't send me that. I asked dbs before I posted this and she didn't get anything either. I'll give them a ring tomorrow and ask for the leaflet.
Annie, I did email my PC Emma and asked her when to start taking the arnica 200c and she said the day after surgery, so yours said the day before. Was it an actual MyBreast Essential guide or just a general guide?

It was in the MyBreast guide SB - it says "start taking arnica the day before sugery. One dose (one pill) will be enough. Continue after surgery taking one dose twice daily until finished. Pills should be chewed or sucked without water."
Though to be honest I don't think it would make much difference if you started taking it after the op ...

We're both going to have our surgery in a Spire hospital, perhaps thats why we had a pre op test. Dont worry that you haven't, all they did was swab us for MRSA, literally nothing else. I'll tell you if I hadn't had that done at the same time as my 2nd consult I would have been well peed off, as it takes me an hour to get to the hospital.

I only decided to get my boob job done on Monday 01st June and got my appointment for Thursday 04th June and the previous weekend I was away for the weekend (not realising I was going to be in surgery in a few days time!) and got locked all weekend and I was fine! :)

Re: Pre op tips please ;O)
I didn't get any info from MyBreast either. I asked my new patient co-ordinator about it and she said not to worry about most of it, the most important thing is not to take anything by mouth 6 hours beforehand.
My PS told me to start taking arnica 2 days beforehand.
And lastly, I'm not having a pre-op check either!

I had blood taken at my pre op, and blood pressure check urine check etc, and then i also had another blood test on the morning of the operation.
Things for after:
. body wipes
. Face wipes
. feminine wipes
.v pillow ( to help you sit up more in bed)
. cushtie pillow (great for putting in front of seat belt to protect the new additions on the way home)
.laxatives (as the painkillers can bung you up)
. a helpful OH or Friend
. a nice dressing gown, as its easy to slouch in through the day and isnt too hard to take on and off.
I was told to shower before the op, take all jewelry out, make off etc i wasnt advised to take any vitimins before the op.
Love emma xxxx

Hi
I went with mybreast and I had to call re: the before and after care advice. You were meant to receive an introductory booklet when you made your first consultation appt.
NADS has given you all the pre-op advice and there's not really any mention of aftercare just their policys on it.
I bought the anti-bacterial soap from asda and it was a Dettol one - yukky no lather!!
