So weird....I was just thinking about that when I had a shower today. That it feels like I'm loosing a lot of hair since my surgery.
But it might be that I only brush my hair after I have had a shower these days and not during the day as I normally do. seeing stars

Do you think it could be hormonal related?

I know a BA can cause stress which can cause a hormone imbalance with women often having a period earlier or later than expected and hormones can very much affect the health of your hair, so could it be stress/hormone related do you think babe?

Not that I know of hun... It seems to happen to some and not to others so until you're all some you won't know if this will affect you.

I was very ill a few years back and lost a hell of a lot of my hair. It was awful and very distressing so I can understand your concern. I bought pure coconut oil from Holland and Barratt. I can't tell you how much this helped and really helped heal whatever was going on with my hair and thickened it out, so regardless of your BA if if you have thin hair, maybe try this anyway hun? Xx

Can be a sign of iron deficiency. Just up your intake of iron, pork etc, see if that helps x

Thanks girls..

Cookie, how do you apply the coconut oil? My mum loves it and recommends eating a spoon of it every day. Do you put it on hair? Thanks for advice darling xx

Guinness? Thumbsup

In seriousness though... I already have fine hair too so I hope this doesn't happen to me. I'd try the oil but my hair gets oily easily anyway so will it make that worse? eek!

I do use coconut oil on my face already, so suppose it wont hurt to try. Its lovely as a moisturiser x

Ew! I don't know about eating it lol. Yes, I used to put it all over my hair then pop a shower cap over and sleep overnight in it then shampoo off in the morning. It really is fabulous for hair hun - just google coconut oil and hair to see the reviews it gets.

Whenever I feel my hair is a little lacking lustre, I use this and my hair ALWAYS looks and feels so good afterwards.

When I suffered hair loss though I was using it 3 times a week! X

A good thing to buy is Lee Stafford theres one for 'hair that doesn't grow' and one especially for hair that breaks off. They are supposed to strengthen your hair, maybe try one for a while see if it helps...

I also know theres those perfectil tablets for hair, skin and nails, although I don't know how effective that is...

I have very fine hair and my mum is always saying to me it's not normal how much comes out in the shower, but it's been like this for years, will definitely be giving the coconut oil a try! xx

iv had to have a lot cut off off because it started to snap ,used to be so strong :S iv been taking biotin tablets/rion/vitamin c over the past couple of months so hopefully that may help. last year when my hair was coming out in clumps in the shower I went to the doctor and told him and I did some blood tests but that came back normal. the past couple of times when I have straightened my hair my parents have both said how thin it is :( im trying not to use heat on it, i just let it air dry. the condition of my hair is improving , but I think its from all the oils and conditioner treatments I use on it, not sure if its making it stronger as it still snaps!

I just wonder if it will eventually go thick again even if I have to wait a few years for it to grow back! Heart x

Tinkerbell, I've heard that the GA can sometimes have strange effects on hair.
Years ago my mum had quite a serious operation an afterwards her naturally very curly hair went straight for a little while. The Dr told her the same.
She ended up getting it permed until things returned to normal; which after a few months they did.x

Oil & conditioning treatments won't make it weaker. But if it's already split, there's nothing that will fix it bar cutting it off.
Coconut oil is amazing, you can use it on your hair, your skin & can also cook with it - though I've never heard of eating it by the spoonful! :/
Like cookie says, apply it like you would a treatment. If your hair is damaged it will take a while to get better, so it's best to persevere. Get a good professional shampoo & conditioner for eg kerastase, use the coconut oil as a treatment, & always use heat protection. Maybe go to your local hair salon & see if it does need a trim first?
