Re: Surgical stockings
Everyone gets different instructions on the stockings... I was told also just until I'm up and about so I wore them for two nights and then took them off, unless told otherwise you only need to wear them if your bed bound all day which I'm sure your not :) XX

Re: Surgical stockings
Surgical stockings are to prevent blood clots when you have reduced mobility than normal, so once you are back to 'normal for you' mobility you don't need to wear them anymore :) xx

Re: Surgical stockings
Definitely follow what you've been told. I was also told a week and you're to wear them 24/7 for that week x

Re: Surgical stockings
I agree with Princess hun. Although once you are mobile you no longer need them because you are no longer at risk of DVT once you're walking around if you've been told to wear them for a week this is part of YOUR post-op instruction.... Should anything happen and you haven't followed instruction you risk voiding your aftercare hun and any costs would be yours... So if your up and about and feeling ok to ditch the stockings, do call your clinic and ask them if its ok not to wear them. If they say its ok then that's fine hun, but please do follow YOUR post-op care. Xx
Re: Surgical stockings
i agree with the girls above, you do need to follow 'your' post op instructions.
just to add from my own experience though, i was told to wear mine for a few days or until i was mobile again, so i kept mine on for the first 3 days when i was mainly sleeping off the GA and high on my cocodamol haha, and i took them off on day 4 when i attempted my first shower.
just read your other post as well, glad you're recovering well x

Re: Surgical stockings
My instructions were to wear them for the week too - which I did, even though I was up and about.
I seem to be in the minority in that I quite liked them, they kept my legs lovely and toasty!

Re: Surgical stockings
Brilliant Jen, what a great reason to wear them!! Seriously gross I know, but my armpits are worse!! Just glad that there's no way I'll be raising my arms for anyone to see them!! lol!
They didn't seem to make too much of a thing about the stockings for me. I was told to wear mine for the journey home, then as long as I was mobile then not to worry!
I'm trying to sit down and do nothing, but getting up every so often to have a wander around the house. Haven't as yet ventured outside though! May take a little walk to get some fresh air later on!x
