Re: Recommendations Pls
Hi Prettylil,
I had my surgery at The McIndoe East Grinstead and can't fault them one bit. They have numerous surgeons working there and I believe you can have a couple of consultations with different surgeons for one cost. All of their surgeons are on the BAAPS register.
I had Roger Smith as my friend had got good results from him and came recommended by my doctor as well. Mr Periera is someone my doctor also recommended.
The McIndoe give you waterproof dressings, its a small thing but I was showering the next day which is rare post BA, most girls have to wait a week or so before they can shower. The Centre also gave me gas and air to remove my drains and the food was amazing. I seriously want to go back there for an overnight stay!!!!
So I would recommend having a look at their website and do a bit of research on them!!! That's just me though! I know there are hundreds of happy girls with recommendations to come your way!!!

You can find a list of BAAPS surgeons in your area HERE
Draw yourself up a list of the surgeons babe and google to see what you can find about the surgeons... Given they're all BAAPS surgeons they will all have excellent credentials, so you will see a good qualified surgeon whichever you choose.
If money is tight and you may not be able to afford the £100/150 fee for a consultation from some surgeons then you can see a BAAPS surgeons at MyBreast from as little as £25 hun. X

Re: Recommendations Pls
Its definitely worth going to see transform and MYA even if you don't want to go with them like you say its great to compare to (many of us ladies have been with transform and have been very happy) but if you want a BAAPS surgeon look at mybreast, spire or booking privately with the surgeon as then you KNOW they are registered baaps/bapras :) xx

Re: Recommendations Pls
You won't find BAAPS/BAPRAS surgeons in these clinics babe. BAAPS/BAPRAS really are surgeons who are at the top of their game lovely and those types of clinics just don't attract them.Prettylil wrote:Hi Cookie ... just looked through the BAAPS list for some of the surgeons I am liking and none are on there ...

If you're seeing a surgeon who is not a BAAPS/BAPRAS member it really is so important t check the surgeon out on the GMC register. Its very important that you have at the very least a surgeon who is on the specialist register for plastic surgery. Its been found that some surgeons at these commercial clinics are only specialised in 'general surgery' or not on a specialist register at all... This is why with a BAAPS/BAPRAS surgeon you get such reassurance babe. You KNOW you're getting a fully qualified surgeon who has not only worked hard to gain membership but is also kept up to speed on all the latest techniques and these surgeons are tested also to ensure their surgery is up to par throughout their time in membership of BAAPS/BAPRAS.
As Jen said, there are some good surgeons who aren't BAAPS/BAPRAS registered but please, please do your homework on them if they're not lovely and check them out on the gmc register as well as googling them. Xx
Re: Recommendations Pls
this is so much harder than i ever thot it will be ...
ok Cookie - THANK YOU SO MUCH and i mean that!!!!
I have earmaked 2 private surgeons - Mr Karidis and Dr kremer and will do more research on them..
I would also look for more surgeons who are either BAAPS reg or good at the trade ...
I see a lot of the girls here have gone with companies such as THG / Transform etc ..
Will keep at it - thanks for the nudge

Re: Recommendations Pls
I agree with everyone so far. You really need to do a lot of research and make sure you feel comfortable with who you are going to use.
Try not to worry about your stats as different sizes will have a totally different impact on each person. I have just had 420cc implants and I was panicking they were going to look massive, but so far they are fine. Although I am nearly 5'10 I was only a 32a and size 10 up top. However the surgeon assured me that as I had wide breasts beforehand this size would be good. He was correct!!
My surgeon is not BAAPS registered and he does work for a large clinic. As others have said, look on the GMC website and pop in the surgeon's registration number. That will tell you if they're on the specialist register. You want to ensure that they are on the specialist register for plastic surgery and then you know they have the correct qualifications.
Good luck, I'm sure you will work it out. Have as many consultations as you need. I had four in the end to weigh up all the options, plus further ones for sizing after I'd decided on the surgeon!!x

Re: Recommendations Pls
Thanks ladies .. @ cab321 .. yes I am going for consultations 1st with as many as i can afford within my budget .. my consultations will be to decide sizes / type of implants etc ..
Next stage for me will then be deciding if I want to go with the bigger companies (which i am slightly wary of due to any aftercare issues and not been able to get hold of PS etc - such as cookies issues with transform) or go with the private surgeon.
Next stage will then be looking at the after care offered by each ..
I will def be taking my time ..
My eyes are also on the guy Douglas who finally rectified Cookie's issue - but he doesnt seem close to me ..
Thanks Cookie for the list above - I will look into each one ...
Again - ladies - THANK you so much

Re: Recommendations Pls
When looking at clinics such Spire and MyBreast, do ask if you can see more than one surgeon for the cost of the one consultation fee if you're unhappy with the first one lovely... Hopefully they'll say yes and then you get 2 for the price of one! Lol
Also... BAAPS now have an insurance called ASC. This is only available to BAAPS surgeons babe and not all have opted in so do definitely write that down to ask of any BAAPS surgeons you see. If they do have the insurance then you will benefit from a further 2 years aftercare for an additional cost of about £150 which is absolutely nothing when you consider the possible costs should you have a complication. Its a fantastic offer pioneered by Douglas McGeorge. The insurance also starts AFTER any aftercare offered by your clinic runs out. So... If you get I think its a years aftercare from Spire, you would then get 3 years aftercare with a BAAPS surgeon. MyBreast offer 5 years aftercare, so you'd essentially get 7 years aftercare with them also with a BAAPS surgeon! So as you can see its an incredible deal for little cost, so do ask about that sweetie. Xx

Re: Recommendations Pls
Sweetie, there was no culture thing between myself and my husband but he too is very anti-cosmetic surgery - still is! LolPrettylil wrote: i have not told anyone in my family i am having this done except the other half and he is very sceptical (just a culture thing)
This is honestly more common than you might think Lil... But if he loves you, regardless of his opinion he will respect and support yours as I'm sure he will
My husband never wanted me to have surgery and I know you'll connect when I say my husband told me 'he loves me just the way I am' its something I've read here over and over again from many women with their other halves saying exactly the same! It can be hard for our lives ones watching us put ourselves through elective surgery and unless they're living your anxieties about your body, which is impossible for them to do they just can't fully understand... But they can support and I'm sure as my hubby and many, many guys after him have done, they'll go along with it because they love you age its what you want
As for not telling your family or whoever else you may not want to tell, don't ever feel pressured to tell anyone Lil. This surgery is all about you and your body. Its no-ones business but yours and as a grown woman the choices you make are yours to to tell whoever it is you wish to.
I told my family and best friend when I had my first surgery Lil and they were a nightmare, so when I had my second it was a conscious decision not to tell anybody. Of course my husband and family knew but that's it. I feel no guilt at all about not telling anyone and I'm not lying in not telling them either.... So you stay strong Lil, you can and WILL get through this with the support of your other half
