When i had my c-sections i didnt bathe in the tub til a few days post op but when i did i soaked my scar with Num to Me Bath Soak which has arnica in it anyway never had any problems so tonight i had a nice warm bath and gave the twins a wee short soak got the steristrips off and then out again should i not have done this ? And if not can u tell me why not ? I never had any problems before so now panicking that i shouldnt have :(
I have dual plane/partial tear drops inam assuming like unders these bad boys will fluff too ? When does fluffing usually start im day 10 today and i do see a difference but not sure if its fluffing or what lol

Re: General aftercare
You shouldn't fully submerge your boobs until they get the all clear that they're fully healed which is around 4-6 weeks post-op jenidj. This is because you have a foreign object now placed in your body and it is a high risk for infection which could lead to explanting the implant.
Plastic surgery is very different to general surgery hun and you should follow instructions given to you by your surgeon.
You would not be able to dry any water that gets into the wound and dampness breeds bacteria hun. This is why you should not fully submerge your boobs. X

Re: General aftercare
Hey jeni. I think the soaking is unadvisable because of the dissolvable stitches. It may quicken the dissolving, so the skin may not be fully healed. Don't quote me on that tho. I was allowed to shower at one week, but stayed away from soaking for 6-12 I think. But everyone's care is different so it depends on what you personally were told.
Fluffing can happen anytime. What's happening now is your muscles are slowly healing and releasing, so they're not holding the implant so high and tight. I'm 3m and still haven't fluffed and finished, so you need to be patient!

Re: General aftercare
Cookie has said it all, just to add about the dropping/fluffing it is different for us all and can take even up to 6 months to see final results! Unders do normally take longer to start to drop xx

Re: General aftercare
Strange, I could shower when I was in the hospital, and I was like 'wow, are you sure?!?!' And they just said as long as you do t rub your boo s, but I decided to showers with the shower head aimed belongs my boobs, and was just really careful. Then when I went yesterday I still had my plaster strips on (14days post op) they said I could soak the strips off in the bath again I was like ' what?!!! I can have a bath?!?!' They said yes! I haven't yet, I'm a shower girl anyway, it I shower as normal now, well I say normal but I am mindful about not soaping up my top half like I used to, just put shower gel all over my arms and back, then really quickly under my arms! I guess we all get different advice, it it's important to follow what your surgeon or pc tells you. (Mine were dissolvable stitches and unders)

Re: General aftercare
Some surgeons cover the stitches in a water resistant glue which is find 'for showering' but not for fully submerging in the bath at all, the glue is not 'waterproof'.
'Shallow baths' are advised if you want to bathe. Xx

Re: General aftercare
I just called my surgeons Secretary to confirm that I can bath just in case I had misheard, and she said yes that I am now ok to bath, but still treat my breasts with care, more so not to create more soreness, like no vigorous rubbing of them while I'm washing etc, I told her that my plasters are off, and she said that's fine.

Re: General aftercare
You're the first we've ever had here that can fully submerge their boobs so soon Princess, but as we always say... Follow the advise your own surgeon gives you so as to avoid any risk of infection and if you're not sure...Ask YOUR own surgeon. Xx
Re: General aftercare
Absolutely! Exactly as I said in my first reply...' it's important to follow what YOUR surgeon or pc tells you' ....
Well I guess I'm one on my own, I get expandable implants that hardly anyone else has that can be filled up to how I want, AND I can bath! Guess I'm lucky :)
Xxx
I think you should just ring your pc or surgeon like I did when you get change just to check their guidelines on bathing etc, just wanted to let you know that it's not the same rule for everyone hun

Re: General aftercare
Lol. I've never read any information before or heard of anyone else barring you two who could fully submerge their wounds in the bath water.
Everything I've ever read suggested not doing this due to the risk of infection and because bath water can be full of bacteria, so until the wounds are 'fully' recovered, which means all scabs are gone, to avoid infection its not adviseable.
You only have to type submerging breast augmented boobs in a bath and everything points to the same - dont do it!
See HERE
So you can see why I'm so surprised at seeing not one... But two of you able to fully submerge! Haha...
Anyway... Enjoy girlies, but for others... Please do check with your own surgeons. Xx

Re: General aftercare
Well, like I said its Important to follow the aftercare given to you by YOUR own surgeon, that's all we can do, and if there's any real doubt, do what we just did and call them to check, only takes a minute and at least then you can be sure that the advice you have been given is right for YOU and YOUR personal surgery.

Re: General aftercare
I still l haven't princess, I'm more a shower girl anyway, but I've been told I can, I'm just playing it by how my body feels you know what I mean? I'm still very nervous with my boobs so treating them like the most precious thing on earth hold them when I bend down and everything (since I've been told I can't wear a bra at all) haha I look a right tw@!

Re: General aftercare
Yeah mine too, it's strange this time last week I was so so restricted compared to now, less tingly every day, honestly I'm even careful putting deodorant on, like it's a full on mammoth routine that I feel I need to do so I can be sure I'm being safe, it doesn't bother me I just want to be as careful as I can haha hope no one can see in my bathroom window!!! Re: General aftercare
Haha that's exactly what I thought!! Aaannndddd I'm still washing my hair over the bath and not in the shower, cos my hair is pillar box red, so every time I wash it the water runs red, so I don't want any dye going near my boobies or shampoo, or conditioner, or anything to be fair!! Xx
