Post by mrsgray 11th February 2014, 1:55 pm

I've had a general anaesthetic twice and been fine both times.
I had anti sickness at the same time as I was given the general anaesthetic meds, along with antibiotics.

Hope this helps xx

Hello
I have had one twice also.
Both times no sickness, no weird feelings....
I had antibiotics for 5 days following my BA.
You literally just nod off chatting away to the anaesthetist...
Don't worry at all

Hi i have had GA 3 times and its worth remembering the BA op is only around 90 mins so anaesthetic will not be as long lasting as if it would be for a longer op. I felt totally fine after BA, had anti-bs for 5 days. I didn't have or need anti sickness medication. You will be blethering away to your nurse just before u go in then next u will be waking up with your new boobies! XxD

Post by kati1236 11th February 2014, 6:39 pm

ooo exciting, nerves kicking in I guess... your is the day before mine :)
I've had back surgery previously so had a general anaesthetic then also.
You don't feel it, as you already have a needle in back of your hand. They stand beside you and chat away to you.
I was petrified that first time, and a nurse held my hand... it doesn't hurt and he said by the time you count to three you'll be gone to sleep. I didn't even start counting :P
You wake up and feel groggy and dry mouth but I never had anti sickness tablets and felt ok, just a bit weirded out waking up in a strange room and not knowing the time hehe
Good luck xx

General Anaesthetic Empty Re: General Anaesthetic

Post by tigertonix 11th February 2014, 9:56 pm

This might sound very weird but i absolutely loved the effects GA had on me! I loved getting put to sleep in seconds and then waking up and feeling like I'd never even been to sleep! Also, it made me very, very tired for at least a week after my op! I slept and slept and slept and slept and slept like a baby all week! I must have had about 15 hours sleep in total every day! It was amazing!!
Straight after my op, though, my mouth was very, very dry and i literally downed about 5 jugs of water straight after i woke up!
Trust me, babe, don't be afraid of general anaesthetic because it will be over with before you even know it!!

Take care, babe, and a MASSIVE good luck for your op and the effects of your GA! XXXXXX

Hey hun, I was petrified of the GA as never had it before. Honestly try not to worry about it, it's all over so quickly! I don't even remember being put to sleep, as I was so sleepy anyway I think I drifted off when they gave me the stuff to relax me! It isn't as bad as you imagine it to be. I didn't experience any nausea just a dry mouth and sounded a bit like a man for an hour! Haha. Good luck with it all you'll be fine :) xxx

Fridays is almost here :) Enjoy your day.

You will be fine with GA. Just tell them you are worried about feeling sick and they will give you anti-sickness.

I've had 4 GAs in my life and the longest I was under was 4.5 hours. First time they didn't give me anti-sickness and I literally wanted to die in the 24hrs after my appendix was taken out. I was  throwing up bile and was so unwell from it. Ever since I've been drugged up and been feeling fine

Good luck xxx

I too was worried about having a GA & put off having mines done for years because of it.
I actually liked it and wouldn't  worry about ever having to have one again, felt like I had no sooner drifted of into a lovely cosy sleep I was been wakened up in recovery, literally felt like I had only been sleeping for a few mins!
I had antibiotics & anti sickness along with the GA  wasn't given any to take after op.
You'll be fine try to let the excitement of getting your new boobs push any worries to the back of your mind.

It happens that quick you don't really have time to think about it to be honest. The thought of it is much worse than actually getting it done. I'm in on Friday too! I can't believe its only 2 sleeps away. Good luck x

I've had one twice and it is scary. I cried both times as they wheeled me into theatre. But they just jab you in the hand, you feel something cold go down your throat and creep down your body and you're out for the count. Then you wake up really confused and out of it x

General Anaesthetic Empty Re: General Anaesthetic

Post by Blueeyedsoul13 12th February 2014, 11:06 pm

hi hun,

don't let the thought of GA scare you at all!

it is something we were all scared of, those of us who had never had it before, because as well as all of the nerves of finally getting boobies, it is just an unknown sensation and we really don't know what to expect.

but it is honestly honestly nothing to worry about, promise!
just try to relax, your anesthetist and the nurses will all chat to you, so just relax and breathe, and all you will feel is what they call a sharp scratch for a split second as they put the cannula in your hand.

what they said to me is that in a few minutes i would feel a bit like i had had a few too many wines lol and it actually was kind of like that, i remember telling them :)

then they said to me to think of something nice/ happy, and all of a sudden you'll already be gone off into a nice sleep.

hope it doesn't sound too scary anymore now hun.
also the anethetist will normally come and chat to you in your room before the op, so any concerns you have about the GA, you can ask him/ her anything then.

if you're worried about feeling sick afterwards, ask them for an anti-sickness medication, but usually they now give you some of this while you're still under GA, so most people do wake up feeling fine.
and if you do feel a bit off, just tell the nurses and they will give you some more anti-sickness which works pretty fast as well.

good luck to you hun, valentines boobies, very exciting!! :) x
