After Care/warrenty @Spire
Hey girls,
obviously I will be asking the consultant for clarification on Thursday but I just wondered if anyone had an knowledge or experience with the after care provided by Spire. Is there a general policy for 'Spire' or is it down to the individual consultant or Spire hospital as to what is covered and for how long... I believe my chosen surgeon uses Nagor Impeo implants... Putting a list of question together now...
thanks :D xxx

Re: After Care/warrenty @Spire
Spire offer 1 years aftercare cover.
However... There is a new scheme now that only BAAPS surgeons can opt into and spire only ever employ BAAPS surgeons
This scheme is called ASC. Its an insurance taken out by the actual surgeon and for a small fee, which from what we've seen from members here is generally around £150 in a edition to the surgery cost already payed.
What you get for this £150 is another 2 years aftercare that starts 'after' the aftercare offered by the clinic runs out.
Its a fantastic offer and great to have 3 years covers for the price of just £150.
This is however a relatively new scheme and not all surgeons seem to be aware of it yet. But its something you should discuss with your surgeon for sure and ask if they are participating because if they are its definitely worth investing in.
Your implant cover will only ever cover CC and rupture and will be a replacement of the 'implant only'.
You can read about ASC [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] xx

Re: After Care/warrenty @Spire
A lifetime guarantee is usually for implants only, and even then it's only certain implants that carry this others are for 10 years. And only for things like grade 4/5 cc or rupture.
The aftercare for surgery is only ever anything from 1/2/3/4/5 years with surgeons and again even then sometimes things like hospital fees or anetheatist fees aren't covered.

Re: After Care/warrenty @Spire
Mrs Ball - i thought same too ..
Until i was told last week fri - that Spires Bushey had a new policy on revision surgery..
The implants - brazillian furries - have 10yrs warranty, nageor impleo has life time ..
But the aftercare seems to have changed ..
Now i cant really confirm what is covered - the letter i got states this
'as confirmed by our self pay coordinator, should there be any related post -operative complications that require revision surgery at some point in the future, this will come under your original package and there will be no fee to pay'
Now my questions are - what are the near future (she said verbally life time, but i want written confirmation)
What is revision - cc? rippling? what exactly ..
That's my mission this week to get clarification and pay my deposit ..

Hey Prettylil, that sounds like the same new policy The Nuffield introduced, following advice from here I thoroughly went through everything with them on what's covered etc, and sure enough it's legit with the Nuffield, it's obviously a new scheme the private clinics are using to compete with High st clinics.x

Re: After Care/warrenty @Spire
I have received the aftercare policy - now its a general policy for Spires ..
it states that if you suffer any complications they will be fixed but it doesnt state a time frame period ..
So i have thrown the question back to Spires ..
Cos my question here is simple .. fr cc - furries are covered fr 10 yrs (you get free replacement implants) nageor impleo (life time guarantee)
but who pays for the revision surgery?
Now Spires payment is also tricky ...
in that you pay some to consultant directly and another to the hospital ...
In fact my quote states as follows:
Mr Chana's fee
Anaethetist fee
hospital fee(which include cost of implant)
SO big question here - who is covering what and for how long...
Cos PS + anathethetist's fees doesnt go via the hospital - its is paid by me direct
so i have re-asked the question again ..
I have highlighted that i wont be paying my deposit until this is clarified in writing

Re: After Care/warrenty @Spire
It's great that your really working this all out, for example the lifetime guarantee in some lifetime policies can be confusing because it's the implant that is replaced for free not the surgery... Also in some aftercare packages it says 'cover for cc' however there are different grades of cc and transforms for example (I looked into it as I booked with them) only cover for grade 3 and above...
It's great your being so careful in finding out what your actually getting as there are always little details that affect the cover! Xx

Re: After Care/warrenty @Spire
so with the lifetime cover what happens when you want to change the implants, do you just go ahead and have consultations etc and then pay again and the aftercare starts again xx

Re: After Care/warrenty @Spire
Here's what I have received so far:
The previous terms and conditions had the para saying "the fixed price includes the cost of treating any complications at a Spire Hospital for 90 days following the date of your procedure where those compications arise directly of the the treatment you receive as part of your treatment package and are identified within 30 days of your discharge from hospital, provided ……." This has been replaced with para 16 in the new terms and conditions I sent you and there is no time limit imposed therein. Mr Chana will discuss his terms with you at consultation.

Morin dolls!!!!
Excitement building up!!!!!
Ok - thought its best to provide an update here..
So yes - I have had it in email / post - Spires now offer a lifetime guarantee on revision surgery for BAs..
Now - i questioned Mr Chana about this - as I have explained that with Spires - you pay the PS and hosp separately - so hosp fees include your implants .. So although Spires gives a lifetime guarantee - it doesnt cover your surgeon's fees for a re-op or your anathesist fee.
I am now awaiting more info from Mr Chana - for his own package and then see how all this merges together.
Saying that - I am still happy to proceed with Spires - as long as I get a minimum of 1yrs cover for ALL revision if required - CC / Rippling / pocket revision etc ...
So my countdown is on:dance:

Re: After Care/warrenty @Spire
Oh i forgot - when i booked my original consultation - I was told by the receptionist - if you go with spires - it comes off the total price of your surgery ..
When I met with Mr Chana's sec - she said no - the consultation fee is an addition ..
I did tell her what i was stated and she said she will honor it as a one off ...

Re: After Care/warrenty @Spire
Don't forget to ask any BAAPS qsurgeon if they're taking part in the ASC scheme, its available to them only, no other surgeons. If they are then for a small fee (about £150) you will receive full cover for 2 years. Xx
Re: After Care/warrenty @Spire
ooops - i forgot to mention ...
I did ask and Mr Chana says he didnt take it out - as the warranty covers what Spires covers ..
now spires have a lifetime warranty ...
just thinking out loud here - are there any insurance schemes we could join to insure our twinnies...
am sure i heard a rumour once long ago that Jennifer Lopez insured her butt ...
hmmmm - new biz idea for anyone!!!

Re: After Care/warrenty @Spire
There's nothing like that here Lil. This is why the ASC was so great, its a massive breakthrough because no-one would insure implants because of their high risk.
Have Spire confirmed that ALL complications are covered by aftercare for life, inclusive of CC and ruptures? And have they confirmed this isn't related to thr 'implants guarantee' but to their own aftercare? Xx

Re: After Care/warrenty @Spire
Ok - i have now gotten emails / letters ..
One 'dictated and unsigned by Mr Chana'..
this basically states that I am covered for 1yr for any complications - cc etc ..
after that - i will not have to pay spires for the hosp or implants for life - but should i develop any complications after 1yr - then i would have to pay for Mr Chana and his anathesist ..
so really - anything outside a yr and i have to cough up 50% of the original cost (at the moment)...
Cookie - alot of this issues (cc/rippling) etc will occur within a year right

Re: After Care/warrenty @Spire
Nope.... CC and ruptures can occur at any time after surgery... Things like double bubble too can occur later.., but the main focus is on CC and ruptures, these are going to be the most likely reason you'll have to change implants years after being implanted and can occur at any time from the actual day of being implanted onwards..
For example...I was 3 years post-op when my implant ruptured. Xx

Re: After Care/warrenty @Spire
oh no...
well i am going with it and pray for the best!
next choice wil be MY Breast and I know that i definitely do not want a PCC ..
I felt comfy with Mr Chana...
Cant have it all - can I
SO really - Spires is a full 1yr after care guarantee..

Re: After Care/warrenty @Spire
There's NO-ONE that can give you it all Lil. That why when clinics seemingly offer these 'lifetime' aftercare packages its so, so important to find out what's included and for how long and its NEVER a cover for complications for life. That's just not practical for any clinic to do because they will inevitably be financially at a loss because we're all highly likely to have CC or a rupture at some time during our time with implants. Xx

I know this is your area of interest Cookie so I just wanted to tell you that I payed £200 for this insurance in September 2013COOKIE wrote:Don't forget to ask any BAAPS qsurgeon if they're taking part in the ASC scheme, its available to them only, no other surgeons. my PS isnt part of the ASC scheme and he is BAAPS reg...
yeah Cookie - you are right - no one can give it all ..
bt just feel a yr is a bit short - knowing some twinnies 6 months to 1yr to settle..
well will have to bite the bullet and go with it ..
silly question - if you had a complication and wanted the implants out and not replaced - what will happen?
