Arnica? Empty Arnica?

Has anyone taken arnica before? Web did your surgeon say to take it? My surgeon said start taking 3 days before op and 3 days after. I assume this means don't take them on the day? Also the packaging of arnica says to take 2x every 2 hours for the first six doses, then 4 times daily for upto 5 days or until symptoms improve? Confusing!
