Arnica is a herbal remedy, it is believed that it helps with bruising. It should only be taken on the advice of your surgeon. However there is no proof it works. I didn't take arnica and only had 1 bruise the size of a 50p. If your unsure if you should be taking it, give your clinic a call and they will advise you. X

Re: Arnica HELP please!!
Arnica is a natural homeopathic tablets that a few of us girls here take to help with bruising. There isn't any proof that it works but many girls use it and there is no harm in it. Some surgeons recommend it, other surgeons like mine said its up to me if I want to take it or not so I am.
I brought mine from boots and normally it's to be taken a week before and a week after xx

Re: Arnica HELP please!!
You can always ring in and ask if you do want to because its natural so doesn't affect your run up etc but if your not really bothered then that's fine :) no need to worry xxx

Re: Arnica HELP please!!
Hey
I asked about Arnica as my sister used it when she had her B/A but my surgeon said that there's no real proof that it works but he cant see it doing any harm HOWEVER his opinion was that its best to have your system completely clear of EVERYTHING including herbal stuff as sometimes although herbal stuff is good for you, it can cause problems for example remedies with garlic in them think your blood which is never good during surgery.
Obviously I am no expert, I am just going with what the experts said and it does make sense.
So I started taking my Arnica the day after I got my surgery and kept taking it for a for 5 days.
I have heard of people taking arnica a week before and a week after but it does say on the arnica bottle to take for only 5 days and I checked all the makes of arnica.
Ultimately its your choice, we're all different. Another thing I will say is you really don't get much bruising with a B/A. I had a B/A and Uplift and the only thing that was bruised was my nipples (considering they had been cut off and stitched back on, that's not bad going lol)
Hope this helps
xx

Re: Arnica HELP please!!
That was supposed to say that garlic THINS the blood which isn't good for any operation. We really don't know what these ingredients do and how it will affect surgery. My advice is to have a clear system before surgery.
If your a non smoker your recovery should be good aswell.

Re: Arnica HELP please!!
That's understandable that you want a quick recovery but I doubt you'll be badly bruised or anything.
My sister had baby twins when she had her second BA as her first was PIP's, the only thing is your not supposed to do any heavy lifting for the first few weeks so you might need extra help with the little one while your recovering.
