partial unders

Im having partial unders and im a bit worried about how much i can do after the op, i have a week off work but still have to take my 3 children to school every morning. what i would really like to know is how much can i do, luckily the school is 5 minutes away at the end of my road but its really worrying me because im going be be home all day alone, i am having the op on a friday so ill have 2 days at home with hubby doing his best!! will take advantage of this time but on the other hand i dont want to think im ok doing stuff and over do it.
are there any girls who have had partials and could give me a bit of an insight into this.
thanks v much

Re: partial unders
Hi Sarah
I had overs so its not a lot of help, but i know some ladies on here feel fine after there op, so long as you have hubby there for the first couple of days make sure you have everything within reach and try to just rest as much as possible your body will tell you if your doing too much.
Im sure someone who had partials will be along soon to help you.

Re: partial unders
hey lovely, I had overs too... sorry! But, if it helps, I was fine to have been back at work after a week. The first few days I was sore and I couldn't lift my arms much.
Is there not a friend/fam that could help you out for the first few days?

Re: partial unders
I would really suggest taking it very easy for the first 2 weeks otherwise it can comprimise your healing. I had partials and could not have done much for the first week apart from take little walks as they really start to ache when you stand up. Ask your ps if you can what s/he thinks, like Roxy said is there anyone that can drop the kids to school for at least the first week?
Re: partial unders
I had full unders and think I would have needed longer than a week to be caring for children. It is best if you could have someone to help with the children I would think...as moving your arms can be as tricky as caring for them!!! You do need to rest to enable healing and you will be tired. Best to ask P.S. what he thinks and follow his advice. Good Luck.xxx

Re: partial unders
Hiya,
I had partial unders and didn't really suffer with pain- just slightly limited mobility- all in all I felt fine and would have been ok going back to work after a week. That being said I did take it really easy (had to stop myself doing stuff) so that probably helped.
If you can't get anyone to take the kids to school- I would do the school run (get your hubby to do lunches, iron uniforms etc the night before) and then take it really easy the rest of the day. They do suggest to get walking as soon as possible (i've been walking 2.5 miles a day since 2 weeks post op) so as long as you feel ok, you should be fine

Re: partial unders
Hi ya,
Im three days PO and had my BA on Fri pm. I had partial unders (Ive still to put my story up on here). Im still tired and weak and find walking difficult. Pain wise its not too bad, probably not as bad as I thought actually but with me its more how I feel (prob from the GA).
My OH has the week off the care for the kids and me and I must say is being a diamond - I'm v suprised lol. Im feeling better as the hours pass but definately could not have taken the girls to school this morning (mon)....hope this helps and hope your second consultation went well xxxxxx

Re: partial unders
Hiya hun, i too had unders and the first 2 weeks for me were really tough! I was in a lot of pain and there was no way i could have done much in the first week. I think everyone is different some people dont have much pain, me on the other hand had lots, lol. I would mention it to your ps, also are you having anatomicals as if you are you want to do as least as possible for the first few weeks to avoid rotation of the implant etc, xxxx

Re: partial unders
thanks for all the replies, i been to see ps and he said really to see how i go and to make sure i keep taking painkillers on a regular basis to make sure the pain doesnt get a chance to kick in. My little sis has offered to take the kids to school for me for the first week which will be a great help. He also said i can keep my nipple peircing in and he will cover it over during the op.think ill still change to the ptfe bar tho.
thanks for all your advice,

Re: partial unders
That's good about your sister. I had partial unders and didn't find the recovery all that painful (much better than I expected) but I was very limited in what I could do as it felt like something was going to go ping!!
I have two small children and pretty much did nothing for the first 11 days, then I was on my own but still felt shaky when driving, pushing the buggy etc, until about 3 weeks po.
The more help the merrier!!
Good luck with your BA!

Re: partial unders
Thats good news about your sister hun, remember pain meds mask pain so dont do anything too strenuous as you may damage something. Its not worth risking a complication x
Re: partial unders
I had partial unders and have 3 kids - for me the first week was quite painful and I did very little! I think I suffered a bit worse compared to a lot of people but I didn't feel able to drive or walk very far. I went out for the day with my family 2 weeks post op and was still in quite a bit of pain and didn't really feel up to it. I couldn't lift my little boy until 4or5 weeks post op. I would say just take it easy and accept any help you can - the first few weeks were hard for me but it was SOOO worth it!
