Maximum Implant Sizes With Lift?
Hi ladies,
I am booked in to have my 330cc submuscular PIP implants removed and replaced with a lift at the end of July (or sooner if a date becomes available!) and after meeting with my surgeon he said that the maximum implant size that he would be able to use is 340cc. Now I was hoping to go a little bigger, not a lot, but maybe up to 380, but the surgeon really won't budge :(.
I have called the clinic today to see if I can have a second opinion from a different surgeon but just wondered if anyone else has had such a small maximum given and what the reasons were? I was so upset at my first consultation (since finding out my PIPs have possible rupture!) that I didn't ask the reasons why the volume was so small.
If anyone has any advice or a similar experience I would really appreciate some help :)

Re: Maximum Implant Sizes With Lift?
Your maximum implant size is calculated by your Breast Width Dimentions hun, so depending on the width of your breast this will determine just how large you can go. In going to large for 'you' you increase the risk of complications that involved with having this procedure and its obvious hun that you surgeon just isn't prepared to put you at risk.
I had a full lift and a 410CC implant, so obviously I had a wider breast width than yourself to be able to accommodate this. Xx

Re: Maximum Implant Sizes With Lift?
I've not had this experience but over the time I have been here it has happended to others, they usually have to go up in stages, so for this new op you'd only be able to go up to 340 and at the next op once the skin has stretched you may be able to go up again. It will usually be because of maybe a few reasons, poor skin elasticity, poor tissue coverage (not enough breast tissue to cover the implant, risk of rippling, bottoming out, stuck on look, etc. I understand it's upsetting but I think another appointment would be tbhe best thing. At least if they say the same you will be able to know the reasons why. 40cc though can make a big difference, plus the measurements for each implant make is different, they may be using a higher profile which would increase your cup size more. I'd check the measurements of your pips and then compare them to the implants your surgeon is suggesting, you may find they are very different
Re: Maximum Implant Sizes With Lift?
Have you asked for the extra high profile implants? Apparantly these are narrower if its just the width that's the reason? But my friend can't go as big as she wants to with her uplift and ba because she just doesn't have the skin there to stretch so would cause more complications and risk opening up the wound if she were to go larger , doesn't hurt to ask for second opinion though but then you may need a 3rd of he is complete opposite xx

Re: Maximum Implant Sizes With Lift?
No I wasn't given the option of extra high profile implants, what make are they? Or do all manufacturers make them? That might be something worth asking about!
I have a lot of skin at the moment as I have had a child since my last BA and now my natural breast tissue (was naturally a small C/large B) has dropped down but my implant is still high under the muscle - so still looks great with a bra on but not so great with no bra!
If the surgeon can just explain a bit about his reasons I may be happier, but all I got told was "there's not enough room" - my last surgeon said he wouldn't know how much room there actually was until he got in there, when he then decided that I should have the 330cc over the 310cc originally planned (I had left the decision up to him).
Did you "shop around" for your surgeon? Or were you happy with the first one that you saw?

Re: Maximum Implant Sizes With Lift?
I have just remembered that in my second option (no lift but re-augmentation after removal) the surgeon said there was "technically no limit" on the size of the implant. So it must have something to do with the lifting process removing some of my skin?

Re: Maximum Implant Sizes With Lift?
It's all about what "fits" into your breast hun! I didn't have a lift and the biggest I could have was 325cc. I would love to have gone a bit bigger, but they just wouldn't fit. I had the extra high profile implants.

He must be concerned about the elasticity of your skin babe. Remember the bigger the implant, the heavier that's going to be in the breast. Of course sagging will happen to us all over time, but your surgeons concern is for the weight of implant he thinks your body can take without putting too much stress on the skin, so that you will get a good aesthetic long life from your result. all being well with your implants lovely. Xx
Re: Maximum Implant Sizes With Lift?
That is true, thanks for that :) I am going to see what he says when I see him next Tuesday but I know that his opinion will be for the best, he is specialised in removing PIP implants so going with someone else may not be the best answer. And I want these next ones to last as long as possible! Haha

Re: Maximum Implant Sizes With Lift?
Just a quick update, had my 2nd consultation with Mr Persico last night and he thinks 380cc will be fine, he is happy to go with them (probably because there's not much difference in size but just wanted to keep me happy haha). I had a really good consultation with him and asked lots of questions so feeling a lot happier now

He's a good man isn't he babe. Really prepared to give you his time to ensure you're happy and confident with the plan.
I have a lot of respect for Mr Persico. He very much stands alone within a clinic.
Glad you're happy now hun. X

Re: Maximum Implant Sizes With Lift?
I had 390cc with a lift and I am very happy with my results although I do sometimes wish I had gone bigger and gone with higher profile implants. I was offered mod 390cc, high 410cc and extra high profiles 460cc and like I say I often wish I had gone with the 460cc but at the same time the 390cc mods look right on me.. I can still fit in all my size 6 clothes and I have a perky pair of boobies that will last me longer due to there being less weight etc on the skin.
