REALLY bad nerves :(
After waiting for what seemed like forever my surgery is just around the corner - next wednesday. However, every time I think about going in for surgery I get an awful sick feeling in my tummy :( I have never had any sort of surgery before so this is the first time I will go under the GA etc. I would be lying if i said the thought of backing out hasn't crossed my mind :( Don't get me wrong.. I am so excited and know this is the right thing for me.. just in need some serious reassurance :(

Re: REALLY bad nerves :(
GA is nothing to worry about it was my 1st ever GA xxxx You don't get time to worry about it on the day, once its in your hand/arm your out like a light xxx It was such a good feeling in my opinion lol maybe im weird but I enjoyed it and my whole operation day actually x Was like a chilled out whoozy day and you go home with bigger boobs
Read everyone's surgery day stories and you will see most people really enjoyed it x The build up is the best part :) haha x enjoy it x Relax, as you say you know its what you want so try and chill xxx

Re: REALLY bad nerves :(
Aww I'm so excited for you, I guess your exams are finished?! I do think you need to try to relax and go out have some fun to take your mind if things, even without your BA next week your nerves must be all over the place!
That's what I feel like when I think of my BA, I know I'm ready and its the right thing but I doesn't stop you feeling really scared. Just try to take each step as it comes, when you get to the hospital it will be exciting, choosing what you want to eat ;) your be talked through it all esp the ga, I always think too that its the run up to the event that's worse, I spend so much time worrying about exams, but when it actually is the day, you feel like come on let's do this!!!
Just remember its what you want, your have boobies!! Your day will fly by in the end and keep thinking about the end result! :) try to turn the nerves in to excitement, your be okay :) xxx

Re: REALLY bad nerves :(
Ba journey is most certainly a rollercoaster and a mix of emotions, excitement, nerves is only natural.
Just try and focus on the outcome and read through a few surgery stories and just think you'll have a great new avi to put up in a couple of weeks! X

Re: REALLY bad nerves :(
Thanks girlies for all the reassurance.
Im naturally a very anxious person about everything! Im the same Jennifer - one minute I'm on cloud 9 and then next I'm freaking out lol.. its exciting but nerve wrecking lol.
Mrsball & Victoria - thanks you! i wish they could knock me out on tuesday night while I'm asleep haha and not wake me up until its all over!! (wishful thinking!) definitely considering asking for the sedative to be honest... has anyone had it/ does it work? :) xx

Re: REALLY bad nerves :(
Ah hun nerves are normal, as mrsball said its a roller coaster of emotions.
Try not to over think things, you would of weighed up all the pros and cons before booking so try to remember all those pros. Keep yourself busy and do all the things you won't feel up to doing for the next couple of weeks. xx

Re: REALLY bad nerves :(
Every emotion you're going through right now so normal babe. One minute you're up with butterflies in your stomach the next you're down feeling sick and wanting to back out! I should imagine thers not many here who can't relate to that babe.
The stories section helps to give you a great lift though so its worth having a read though some of those and you may find this thread [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] helpful to know you're not alone babe.

Re: REALLY bad nerves :(
Thanks ray, victoria and cookie!
I will be reading the surgery stories every night from now until wednesday! Such a weird feeling being so excited but so nervous lol I've always been really anxious even from when i was very young.. so this is like double trouble lol
I thought the sedative was a tablet? to calm your nerves etc? I may have gotten that wrong though..
xx

Re: REALLY bad nerves :(
I had a wee look there i think it depends on the dosage given.. think some patients are given a small dose to take the edge of anxiety! Im just worried i won't even make it into the theatre for the GA lol (I get that nervous!!) xx

Re: REALLY bad nerves :(
Oh if you feel you might have issues when getting onto the table and being given the GA I would probably advise you to ask for a pre med! But honestly hun, it's so easy! I had never had a GA before, but it was nothing like I expected. Even said goodnight to the anesthetist lol! You will be fine, keep saying to yourself boobies boobies boobies x

There's no need to be nervous. Your day will fly in and you'll have new boobs before you know it or have time to worry x

Re: REALLY bad nerves :(
we sound so similar its scary haha :) When i get nervous i keep focusing on the end result. Also i know 100% this is what i want to do there is nooooo way i want to cancel etc so thats pushing me through. Like i said earlier, rememeber its just one day, time has to keep moving and take it all one step at a time. Its not silly at all to get yourself worked up and feel scared but the hospital staff will do all they can to reassure you, your family will also and your have us all here thinking about you :) xx

Re: REALLY bad nerves :(
I have to be at the clinic before 10:45 for all the pre-op stuff. A few girls who have the same surgeon said they went down at around 11:30.. I'm first on the list!
Jennifer - its nice to know I'm not the only one freaking out lol. I'm the same I'm positive its what I want.. theres not even a little doubt in my mind about that. Its just the whole GA and operation business thats really getting me:( I will have my mum there with me so i do have support... i will be the worst patient EVER haha!! xx
