EU propose to end free consultations - Page 2 Empty Re: EU propose to end free consultations

my surgeon is a trainee associate for baaps/bapras. As i said before, it's my understanding that there are different 'types' of membership. To me, it seems that he is a traineee associate member and his full baaps/bapras membership is pending.

A pending membership doesn't necessarily mean they will be accepted for a 'full membership' hence the 'pending' hun which will be based on how they get on with their training with their mentors Xx

yah what i mean is that he's allowed to say he's part of baaps/bapras because he is... as a trainee member. Like i said, my surgeon is trainee too but he's allowed to use the logo's under his cv pic... i guess what you mean is that he should have it in the text and not at the bottom by an asterix?

Yes lovely. An asterisk shouldn't be used to explain their status. This is easily bypassed.

A trainee member should make that very clear to their patients so that there is no confusion that they are a full BAAPS member which they are NOT. Xx

I wouldn't be happy with paying to see surgeons for consultations. I've been to THG and saw Mr Zaccheddu for free, he took me through everything I needed to know about the procedure, measured me up and told me his recommendations, no pushy business. I then went to HMG and saw a nurse which I was originally going to cancel but decided to go along to see what they had to say, I found the nurse quite pushy, didn't give me a lot of info, in fact she didn't even know the make/model of the implant I had to keep telling her it was allergan natrelle which she kept calling them something else, she then made a call to another nurse there and they were in fact natrelle as I said. I got no measurements or recommendations which to me is one of the main reasons to go for a consultation, she then tried to get me to pay £300 to see the surgeon and started going through dates that were available for surgery. I much preferred the experience at THG and the fact that he had taken the time to see me for free.

You don't have a 'consultation' with anyone else but the surgeon babe. The person you saw would have been the 'patient care co-ordinator' in lay mans terms - the saleswomen! She has no medical training and this is the reason why she was unable to 'consult' you on the surgery you required. The £300 she asked you for would have been to secure a booking not to see the surgeon hun. Consultations with surgeons at HMG are free. Xx
