will i need a 2nd consultation?
hello ladies, i'm getting a bit ahead of myself i'm afraid but just getting excited as ive booked my consultation after years of researching! just wondering whether because i've got myself clued up about the surgery, i.e. placements, type of implant, what to expect after etc, whether 1 consultation is enough or whether its worth having two before booking the op? even though this forum has provided me with an amazing amount of info, now that im only just embarking on my boobie journey i feel a bit lost with where to start lol! xx

Re: will i need a 2nd consultation?
i only had 1 with my surgeon, the initial consultation was around an hour long and we covered pretty much everything, although thanks to this forum i was already clued up on most of it. If you know a surgeon is 'the one' you can always book and then go back for a 2nd just to reiterate placement, sizes etc. It's totally up to you and depends how you feel after the consultations xx

My surgeon wanted to see me twice before I booked, that meant I could go over everything and not feel rushed xxx

Re: will i need a 2nd consultation?
I suggest you see at least 2 surgeons babe before booking anything.
With seeing only one surgeon you have nothing to compare to to ensure you're making the right decision and know that you're getting the best surgeon for you.
Having two consultations at the very least allows you to compare surgery plans. Although you're pretty sure what you think you want, when you see a surgeon they may have totally different plans for you because 'they' are the experts hun. So having at least two surgery plans allows you to look at them both and see what 'you' think best fits your ideas of what 'you' want from your surgery. You also get the opportunity to choose the surgeon who you think is best for you rather than never knowing if there was better for you out there.
I'd also recommend once you choose your surgeon that you have another consultation with them (a second one) at the first consultation a lot of what's said due to excitement goes completely over your head and as it gets nearer to your surgery date you do have other questions that come up or concerns over sizing and this just gives you the opportunity to dot the 'Is' and cross the 'Ts' before the big day so you're going in reassured that you're happy with all your choices made hun. Xx

thanks for the advice ladies. im seeing james mcdiarmid for my con im hoping he'll be just as fantastic as i've heard he is on the forums but seeing as mybreast offer up to 3 consults for the fee, i'll definitely consider a few others too. xx

Why not go for one with him now and another nearer booking? You pay £25 for 3 appointments with surgeon via mybreast and when you book it comes off the OP fee :)

Re: will i need a 2nd consultation?
I went for 2 consultations with the same surgeon. He spent over an hour with me at the first consultation and then i was with the patient care co-ordinator for an extra half hour after that as well. I had researched him to the high heavens and knew beyond a shadow of a doubt that he was the one i wanted x x x x

Re: will i need a 2nd consultation?
I saw him mid September and had my OP the end of November. I couldn't wait til July I'd be seeing him next week. I think if you can go to Cheltenham to see him his waiting lists aren't bad at all.. 2 weeks is all I'd of had to wait had my revision not been authorised in time xox

Re: will i need a 2nd consultation?
I had an amazing 1st consultation and was sure I had found "the one". Yest I went to see a different surgeon as the girls on here had recommended that I should. I am so glad I listened to them as I now know that the 1st consultation is the right one for me. No more niggles or doubts x
