Hi girls, I have heard that if you take arnica 2 weeks before your op and 2 weeks after it reduces bruising and swelling! Is this true? And also to wash in hibiscrub before your op lowers risk of infection! Anyone done this?

yes its true i was told by nurse at transform pre op to take arnica and have read girls taken it on this forum and they thought it helped with the bruising and swelling. Im sure i was told at least a week before and after. It comes in two strengths 6c and 30c- but the 30c tablets. I am also going to buy hibiscrub aswell anything to make things better and reduce risks :) x

I washed in hibiscrub before both surgeries.. it was recommended to me by my surgeon and I was given a bottle to use the night before and the morning of the surgeries. I was told to also use arnica before my first op and I did use it. I had bruising but it wasnt excessive. I wasnt told to use it this time so I didnt bother and now I wished I had!

Some surgeons recommend it, others do not want you to take anything at all. I would check with your clinic as to whether you are allowed to take arnica. I did use it but dont know if it would have made much difference if I didn't.
