I am not a homeopathic doctor, but here's what I'm doing and have always done with homeopathic remedies:

"Arnica 30 the night before surgery, another dose the morning of the surgery, another dose just prior to the surgery, and different medicines afterward, depending upon the type of surgery and the symptoms the patient feels.

What dose do you have? The pack always says something generic, but homeopathy is very specific to the person taking it.. completely different from conventional meds. It really is fab though.

Things to remember:
Take nothing by mouth (except water) 15 minutes before or after taking remedies. (This includes chewing gum, cigarettes, and toothpaste)

No caffeine in any form. (this includes pop, coffee, chocolate and black tea).

No mints in any form (this includes candy mints, mint toothpaste, and mint mouthwash).

No camphor, eucalyptus, teatree oil, liniment rubs.

Who advised you all to take arnica? I was considering getting some myself after seeing many of you talk about it to take leading up to surgery but most websites state Arnica might cause extra bleeding during and after surgery and that people should stop using it at least 2 weeks before a scheduled surgery?! :/ xxx

30C is standard dose - you'd have to really look for another (I was just checking).

cupcakeaholic - Homeopathy is not a herbal medicine. There are some herbs that can increase bleeds (st john's wort, oil of evening primrose and more).

I will post what my mum's homeopath recommends for me this week when I speak with her for those who are interested.

My mum's homeopath says she usually recommends for after surgery.. taking it before is not a bad thing, but it's likely to have no benefits as the body isn't yet aware of the surgery as it hasn't happened yet!

So I am taking it right after surgery, every 2-3 hours for the first few days, then lower the dose to 2-3 times a day while healing for a few weeks.

It can be put in a glass of water (nothing else) if that's preferable.

And Rescue Remedy - which are drops.. taken separately whenever I feel I need it (for trauma/ shock).
