Anatomicals...
Hi everyone,
I have been recommended anatomical implants by the surgeon I had my most recent consultation with, and she suggested around 410cc to 465cc overs. Previously I was wary of anatomicals (or teardrops, which I think are the same thing ) because of the risk of rotation and the fact that round ones take on a teardrop appearance eventually anyway. However, as this surgeon specialises in polyurethane implants which have a much lower risk of rotation, my interest has been piqued. Has anyone had anatomicals in a similar size? If so, what has been your experience? Would you recommend them and do you have any pics I could have a peek at? Thanks guys xxx

Re: Anatomicals...
I was told they have less chance of rotation, but that's my surgeons opinion. On geordie shore the girls implant rotates in her sleep and she corrected it herself, I think there are worse risks to worry about. I didn't want anatomical but I am soooo glad I did, they're only a few days old but everyone whose seen them have said u wouldn't know I'd have a boob job if I hadn't broadcast it on Facebook hahaha will pm u my pic details xx

Re: Anatomicals...
Worth adding tho I was recommended teardrop because I had no upper pole,u could see my ribs and my natural shape was that of anatomicals xx

Re: Anatomicals...
Thanks little wellies! Your avi looks amazing BTW! That's great that rotation isn't a massive concern. I am probably more concerned about rippling with overs, which looks highly unattractive! I also have no upper pole, which is think is why I've been recommended teardrops. The last surgeon I consulted said that teardrops would be such a bad idea because my boobs are already 'bottom heavy' and teardrops would only push them down further on my chest wall but Mrs Kat (who I am pretty sure I'll be going with) explained that this is incorrect. I am so looking forward to my new body! xxx

Re: Anatomicals...
Thanks hun, they look amazing! My surgeon recommended overs as I have enough breast tissue apparently, and overs is less complex/ painful surgery. I am a tad dubious as I always thought I'd have to have unders but I am a B cup just now so I think I'll be ok xx

Re: Anatomicals...
Ive been recommended 445cc anatomical overs but im tuberous. Rotation does worry me but at least that can be corrected whereas rippling youre stuck with x x x
Re: Anatomicals...
OH really? There is nothing that can be done about rippling. Ewww....do you know how common it is? xx

Re: Anatomicals...
Just looking through terms and conditions for my breast and rotation revision isn't covered for anatomical, just an fyi girls.
Ps thanks I'm thrilled with them, if you don't need unders that's great, it's pretty hard going post op but u get through xx

Re: Anatomicals...
I've had round overs hun and i was really worried about seeing the implant but you can't see it at all, i was a size 6/8 on top and a 34b in one boob and 34a on the other boob. i thought id need unders but im happy with what my surgeon recommended and my recovery so far has been pain free with full mobility in my arms. x

Dove, that's great to know! I am really concerned they won't look natural and people will be able to tell, which I don't want at all. Glad your surgery went so well hun!
Kirsty, wow! 560cc! You must be thrilled! Really good to know they look natural and you are so pleased :) I have so many options whizzing around in my head I don't know where to begin, eek! xx

Re: Anatomicals...
Hi hun! I don't really know anything about anatomical! My main reason fir my BA was my lack of upper pole, I had the rounds that SW recommended fir me and I love them! I have got exactly what I asked for... with clothes, I look exactly as I did before with my padded push up bra on, and when I take my clothes and bra off, off they stay the same rather than disappearing!

Hi mandy!
Ohhh, that makes me question Mrs Kat's advice because I went to see Simon Withey for my first consult and he was AMAZING! Really, really attentive. In fact, I think they are both extremely good surgeons and very respectable, I'm currently trying to choose between them. Mr Withey recommended round implants for me, mainly because they take an anatomical shape when they're in anyway and he only offers anatomicals in one size. He also recommended partial unders for me, whereas Mrs Kat recommended overs. I'm very confused right now. Your avi looks AMAZING! Do you have a pic trail? xxx

I'm still trying to sort my picturetrail at the moment. Having a bit of a technological nightmare. I am so pleased with my results. It must be sooo confusing if you like both the surgeons and they've given such conflicting advice.

Re: Anatomicals...
how many consultations have you had? if its afew and all but one says round then id go back to the lady with reasons why they support round and ask her why she feels they wouldn't be appropriate for you?
maybe you could see simon and the lady again on the same day? that way you can cross reference the consultations...did you go through mybreast to see Simon? x

TSmith could i have a look too? Im going from a 36b and having 445cc anatomical overs so we are quite similar =] x
Re: Anatomicals...
Hi guys,
Yes, it’s extremely confusing being given such conflicting
advice from the surgeons! I’ve had three consultations and all have made very
different recommendations. One of the surgeons, I am just going to avoid but I
am still deciding between Mr Withey and Mrs kat. Mr Withey did suggest
anatomicals but said that the chance of rotation made them not worthwhile. With the polyurethane implants Mrs Kat uses,
rotation isn’t nearly as much of a concern as the implant kind of fuses with
the breast tissue. Also, Mr Withey suggested unders and (I may be wrong here) I
think round implants placed under the muscle would mean the implant wouldn’t
look stuck on, kind of similar to the effect achieved with anatomical overs as
suggested by Mrs Kat. The size issue is really confusing me. I thought 360cc in
rounds would be perfect for me, but then I tried on the 410cc anatomicals and
thought they’d be too small!! It makes no sense whatsoever!
Dove, I would like to see both surgeons again but they are
in London and Birmingham whereas I am in North Yorkshire so it’ll be very
expensive to see them. I have emailed asking if I can possibly speak to them on
the phone about my concerns. Yes, I saw Simon through MyBreast.
TSmith, thank you! I will have a look now hun and PM you.

Re: Anatomicals...
I've had anatomical unders. they were textured and my surgeon said with textured, there is less change of rotation due to the adhering to the breast pocket, and much less chance of CC too.
I'm so happy with mine, they looks a great shape from the word go

Re: Anatomicals...
I'm looking forward to anatomicals. I think that they look natural and will be best for me, i trust my surgeon and i like that my surgeon feels competent enough to offer them outright instead of making up some scare mongering story to frighten you off having them. Yes anatomicals can rotate but you have as much chance of getting capsular contracture as you do of the implant rotating. There's also little to no chance of rippling with anatomicals either because they are form stable x
Re: Anatomicals...
Hi Balamory,
Could you tell me what you mean by 'form stable' please? I thought anatomicals have a higher chance of rippling for some reason so this is really good to know. Rippling freaks me out! I am getting more and more comfortable with the idea of anatomicals! I can't wait! When is your op? xx

Re: Anatomicals...
Hopefully beginning of April. Form stable means that the silicone doesn't run like other implants do. They're also known as gummy bears because when they are cut open then don't leak out which means if the implant where to rupture there is less chance of silicone migration. Rounds can be form stable but for the most part aren't. It is the gel running down to the bottom of a round implant that gives it the tear drop shape and is also what can give the rippling effect.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] this shows a form stable antomical cut open.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] this shows what is meant by form stable and shows how rounds can ripple =] x
