Short lower pole...Double bubble. Help! Advice! Empty Short lower pole...Double bubble. Help! Advice!

Post by melstar82 1st February 2013, 6:56 pm

Hello Girls,

So I had my second consultation with Simon Withey yesterday evening. We were talking about the size of implants that would be best for me. As he had mentioned previously I have short lower pole. So he said 300cc would not give me a natural look at all. I was fine with that as only wanted to be a C anyway. I'm currently an A. He has said now as well that 270 might give this 'double bubble' effect so a smaller implant would be better, 240cc. I just don't know what to do!? 240cc sounds so small, he said he could 'open' up the tissue and possibly try 270cc, but wouldn't know if this was possible until he had begun making the incisions. He has said the ultimate decision is mine which I totally understand, but I need to say what i'd prefer. But do I go for 270cc and get a bit more volume and maybe compromise on shape or be safe and lose volume. Oh god! It is my anatomy causing this so can't change that. Just worried i'll be underwhelmed and end up being a B. It's going to cost a bit more with him as well.

A bit of a confusing topic too post! But anyone who has any advice or has had this problem I would love to hear from you! Or equally anyone who has had 240cc implants would be interesting to know how they are!!!

Hi Melstar82,

I was a 32a, and got 240cc i wanted to be a full C, but more than size i told the surgeon the look of the size - basically wanted to look how i did in my mega padded bras!

He told me hes taking in 240cc, 270cc, 300cc in with him when he operates, and will pick the best size for my desired result. I was always worried about being too big and would rather be a little on smaller size.

I'm now a 30dd or 32d. It sounds big but isnt, and looks exactly how i wanted to in clothes. I've just posted on the shape of my boobs though, feel like they're too high almost 19months on!

Unfortunately i dont have any pre-ba pics but happy to share how they turned out for size. Shape of course will depend how you are now. I personally think somethings wrong with mine now!

Rk19, I just sent you a message :) I thought choosing sizes etc would be one of the best bits. It's actually the worst and pretty stressful! The more reading I do the more confused I get in a way, but there is so much I want to know! Looking at pictures is hard not to do, as everyone says we are all different. We women always compare ourselves though! i wish mine were a bigger and din't have this bloody stupid anatomy, can't change that though!

I know hun, choosing the size part one can make it as stressful as they want! Its good to educate yourself though, you are doing the right thing. But then theres such thing as looking into things and over doing it - i did and drove myself mental Short lower pole...Double bubble. Help! Advice! 2661777810

Take your time, and do take into account what the surgeon says. But end of the day will be your decision and what is physically possible for the surgeon to fit in.

Good luck hun, you will be fine in the end! xxxx

I'm going to meet with him again and talk about this 'problem' I took it all in at the time when he was talking, now have a million more things in my head! Thanks for your advice lovely. Hope things settle for you, maybe you should visit the PS again. It's good for some reassurance I think :) Maybe they will drop? being pre BA I have no idea so can't help there. The other girls on here would know though i'm sure. Cookie is a fountain of knowledge! Who'd have though I would be thinking of my nipples this much!

hi hun, i'm curious as to why he said 300cc wouldn't give you a natural look? I know we're all different but I've been told I don't have any upper or lower pole!! xx

When he said this I didn't think at the time. But today after thinking I did wonder, well what happens with people who have no breast tissue at all and like you say no upper / lower pole?! Maybe if there is isn't anything they can place it etc and choose the option etc. He said if it is too big the nipple can look displaced and lower on the breast and like there is too much at the top! It's really hard to understand! argh! The pics I have google about this have scared me a bit and make me think twice, god!

ah I see. I'm guessing you don't want him to move the nipple? As for me, I was just told i'll need a full projection implant to fill it out. hmmmm

I'm not a PS, but the way he explained it, it is when the distance between your nipple and the crease is short. So like in the pic you can see there isn't much space between the nipple and bottom part of the breast. So if a big implant was put in the nipple would look low down an too much in the upper part. i'm so worried now and feel disappointed. Don't know what to do! he said he can lower the fold to make it better, but can't tell until he can see the tissue etc. Would help if someone had the same problem or had some knowledge!

He said no. That they would just look slightly saggy, flat in the upper part and the nipple would still sit too low. Going to arrange another appointment and see. He does reconstructive surgery and is really well known. I'm a nurse and have been recommended him by a few people. I really trust his opinion, just this whole thing has thrown a spanner in the works! He did say some surgeons would just offer to put in an implant size the patients wanted, but he said he wouldn't do this as it wouldn't give the right look, wouldn't be right in his opinion

Yeah I know of mr withey's reputation I've done a lot of research on him myself, I just know of some people who have been offered anatomicals to 'kick out' the lower pole as it were. Obviously we're all different tho and it isn't suitable for everyone xx

It's a roller coaster of emotions! ah, how annoying! Hope they get in touch on monday, fingers crossed for you. It's good hearing other people stories and looking at other people's pics, but you have to feel confident and happy with yourself post BA. The rice test is quite good. My boyfriend got sick of me prancing around with rice boobs in my bra!

My surgeon was Simon Withey, I had 240cc. He did recommended either 210
or 240 for me, but for a different reason. I have zero boob greed btw,
despite the fact that my frame could have taken a bigger size. I love
how I can dress them up or down.

I had three consultations with
him, plus another two over the phone because I had so many questions,
and changed my mind about the exact procedure I was going to have. He
never made me feel that I was taking too much of his time. It's major
surgery, he wanted to make sure I went in in with my questions answered.
He's the one who had recommended the phone calls and the extra
consultation.

I can show you my pictures. I have't updated them
in a long time though, they look even more natural now. My most recent
ones are three months post op, I'm now ten months post op. I want to
update them, I lost the charger to the tablet I was using to take my
pics, I'm so untogether when it comes to things like that xxx

Mel i totally understand i had problems with the height of my. Chest being short and my breast crease high up so couldn't have a wide implant or i would get double bubble. So i had to have extra high . He sounds like a good surgeon so like u said trust him and just keep re tslking about what u want. Im sure u will get there its just find the best implant for u :)) i managed in the end my only wish is i had gone bigger too but when i look what i had before im starting to appreciate just having something xxx

I think you should trust your surgeon, its a hard decision bit if it was me i would want the best look aesthetically. If your nipple is low on your breast would there be a possibility to have a lift? I don't know if its worth asking about that, obviously I suppose he would of already mentioned it if it was a thought although it doesn't hurt to start the discussion?

Your nipples will be low after surgery anyway until the implant drops and raises it up so bear that in mind because it is quite disheartening.

Mel, you know I'm going to sing Mr Withey's praises! And you know he was also recommended to me by another surgeon. He said similar things to me in my first consultation, that you can go chasing the biggest size possible but that won't always give the best look and it seems Mr Withey is a 'look' rather than a 'size' man!
Definitely go back for another chat to get things straight in your head

Roxanne, WOW! They really look gorgeous. A lovely shape. They look a really nice size though, so natural. You must have been so chuffed seeing them. Must make it harder to imagine too when you are having more than just an enlargement. I thought a D, DD would look bigger. You were bigger than me to start with with. Thanks so much for letting me see the pictures. Really helpful. I bet a year on you still can't stop looking at them! ;)

Thanks Katie & Kuruchullis. I use sound like a right moan bag!!! I do trust him. It's just making it more difficult as he said it's not quite as simple as just enlarging with anatomy etc, I must repeating myself!!! He said he might be able to lower the inframammary crease so my nipple doesn't sit in the lower third. Sorry girls. Think consultation number three is in order!!!

Mandy! How are you feeling! Has Simon been in to review you today? Are you happy?! I'm thinking a big YES!!! Did you still go with 300cc overs? I agree he does seem a 'look' man like you say. he told me not to get fixated on cup size and choose what gives me the 'look' I want, his words!!! haha. He is so lovely and patient though! Going to book another appointment monday. they are booking for April now which is when I was wanting to go ahead. Probably have to change that as i'm not quite ready :)
