19months Post Op Scars - which silicone strips?
Hello lovely ladies of BJSF
Long time since I have come on this forum, I'm now 19 months post op and can't even remember what all the fuss was about when getting my boobies!! I feel like i was born with them havent had any severe problems and feel so blessed!
I couldn't have done it without this forum, where you get understanding, encouraging ladies who are always there to answer what may seem like the silliest questions. THANK YOU to each an every one of you!! So to all the Pre-BA girls, good luck you are going to be just fine, if I can do it honestly ANYONE can! I backed out twice after booking in past, and was 3rd time lucky! And to all the post-ba girlsand well done!
I'm happy with the shape and size of boobs, and my left crease scar has healed great, but my right scar is lumpy towards one corner and a dark red/purply colour. The lumpiness gets pushed in when wearing underwired bras but comes back out when after a few hours of removing the bra. I went back to my surgeon on what can be done, and i've been told to continue with bio-oil and try some silicone strips. However, i've read silicone strips will not do much fo matured scars? has anyone else used strips with good results so late on in the healing process? If that doesn't work he has suggested steroid injection which i'm not keen on.
Also can you ladies recommend which silicone strips i should use? My surgeon didn't give a name or anything!!
Thank you!!

Re: 19months Post Op Scars - which silicone strips?
It sounds like you have a problem were the end sutures were knotted babe and the skin healed over the knot creating that bump effect. i had this too.
I was I was advised at 3 months post-op to start using silicone strips. I was given Cica-Care silicone sheets. I had to buy them after the pack my surgeon gave me and they were expensive, but you cut them to size and they are re-usable so over time the price does balance itself out.
I was told if my scars hadn't improved by 1 year pos-op I could have revision to improve the scars... Early post-op silicone injections were suggested but my scars were far too thick for them to gain anything from them.
I wouldn't imagine at 19 months post-op you're going to see much improvement than what you have now, but then I'm no surgeon babe. i had my recision 3 years after my surgery and after a year i saw no significant changes in my own scars, so I'm just speaking from personal experience. I didn't personally gain much from the silicone sheets, but if this is what your surgeon suggested then its the road you have to endure before actually getting them to do something for you sadly lovely...
I know other women swear by a product called Dermatix also. If anyone is reading this thinking they'll run out and buy these products, I really wouldn't bother unless you have good reason to use them. They are expensive and he results really aren't that great in my opinion. A good moisturiser/bio oil and massage is fine for 'normal scarring' but if like rk19 you are having problems then anything is worth a try in the hope of better results.
Hoping all goes well for you sweetheart. Xx and its good to see you back xx

Re: 19months Post Op Scars - which silicone strips?
Hi Cookie
Thanks for you reply hun...i would have imagined this is the case. To be honest i just felt fobbed off by my surgeon, he told me my scars are great for asian skin! But i'm concious about the right scar as quite visible when naked.
I will give the strips you have suggested a try, if not then guess i will have to live with it. Do you know if they can cut the scar open and re-do it again? Is this what you had done?

Yes, they can cut away the old scar tissue leaving fresh tissue to create a nice neat new scar hun, so don't be fobbed off hun, things CAN be done.
Just been through this myself and mine are looking so much better now. Xx

Haha! You go girl! don't be turned away if you're unhappy lovely. There are ways your surgeon CAN help xx

I have to agree with cookie, and think if after a try of the silicone sheets there is no significant improvement then going back to the surgeon would be the best way forward.
