Silicone tape for scars?
Hi Ladies!
Can I ask if any of you used silicone tape on your scars....my PS said he didn't know if it would make a difference. I have been using bio-oil and la mer concentrate when I remember, but I think mine are quite bad, so would be grateful for a solution that works.
Thanks in advance! Xx

I didn't use tape hun but I did use cica-care silicone gel sheets and did find they made a difference to my scarring for the better, I only used them after getting the all clear from my surgeon to use them though.
The sheets are expensive but they are reusable so in the long run it doesn't actually cost as much as you might think. xx

Hi hun, I am using the silicone sheets on my scars, I have been using it in alternate with the bio oil for about 2 months now and I do notice a difference... my scars are smooth and it is definately decreasing the coloring.
AS cookie has said be sure to get the all clear from your ps as the scars need to be fully healed before you start using them.

Re: Silicone tape for scars?
Thank you very much! I did get the all clear to use them a while ago, but have found it quite difficult to get hold of them. Am annoyed because I saw him (my PS) tonight, and he said he would deal with an internal suture that is poking out and quite sore, but we completely forgot! I guess it will be ok to use them still though? It isn't an open wound, just a minor polyp...
Did you just get yours from a pharmacy?
Thanks! Xx

Re: Silicone tape for scars?
I was given my first sheets by my surgeon hun, after that I has to buy them myslf and like you had difficulty finding them.
I eventually asked at Boots chemist and they ordered them in specially for me, so maybe you could try asking your chemist if they'd order them for you.
I'd get that stitch sorted before using the sheets hun, its not an 'open wound' as such but with the stitch comming through it is an opening and could possibly risk infection, just make an appointment for your nurse to deal with it sweetness. she usually jusr snips it ad the hole closes in a day or two. xx
