Tape on scars- for 3 months?!
Hi Everyone,
At my first post op nurse check yesterday I had some tape put over my scars and given a reel to take home. I was told to put more on only when the last is almost falling off for the next three months and this helps the scar.
Now I am wondering whether I heard this correctly as I have not come across this before . I had my first shower today and it felt weird not taking it off after etc?
Has anyone else been advised to do this?
Thanks
Kerry xx

I've heard ladies being advised the same hun. To change the tape as it falls off.
If you're unsure at all about any of the post-op instructions, you can just call your clinic/surgeon and request a call back to go through the details again with you as you're unsure.
They won't mind hun, they'd rather you be sure and follow the instruction than not. xx

i had to do the same.. but i only had to wear the tape for 6 weeks in total after my op. After that i could be completely free of everything.. although i still wear my post surgery bra now and again at night time just to keep them nice and pert!! haha xxx

Hey sweetie, you've gotten good advice here. (Cookie's always is. Smile) I just want to address the part about you never having heard of it before... My surgeon told me on the first day that all surgeons' pre and post BA advice is different and he would tell me what worked for HIM and HIS PATIENTS and that I should follow exactly what he says because it is based on experience and also might be specific to ME.
Sooo.... He used a steri strip on my incisions that stayed on 3 weeks, then he removed them and that was it. I was showering normally the morning after my BA. I could raise my arms after 3 weeks, but a lot of women get told one week. It is all different so don't worry if you've never heard it before and do as Cookie said - just call. My surgeon ASKED me to call if I heard anything different than what he told me or was confused about his advice.
Hope that helps. Kissees! Xxxxxx
