the fit of the sports bra
how do i know if my sports bra is supportive enough?
i had taken asda post op bras to the hospital with me they helped me into the 34dd and i needed to add an extender on the back as it was too tight. i was told to change the bra as soon as i got home as it wasn't very supportive.
my partner stopped of at tesco's and im now wearing a high impact 36dd with the extender again but how do i know its supportive enough? i dont feel very heavy anymore but my stiches are sore so the strap is as loose as possible but still feels tight to me.

The support comes from the band. You want it to be tight enough that you can only get 2 fingers under it on the loosest hook.. as the materiall gives as the bras get older you tighten up the hooks :) If it pulls off your back then that's not supportive enough.. You almost feel strapped down with them. You'll probably find as the swelling goes down you go down a couple of band sizes

Re: the fit of the sports bra
Bra extenders are fab to help you through the swelling lovely. Irritation of scars is very common hun, so maybe try popping a sanitary towel or a panty liner (sticky side against your bra) to cushion the scar and make it more comfortable for you hun. Xx

I agree with above, you should be able to get 2 fingers under the band, but you do feel compressed when wearing the bra, especially at the beginning! I wore a 36 back and then dropped to a 32 back 4 weeks later and think I need to drop again.

I can get 2 fingers under the band it just feels so tight I can't believe I've gone from a 34 to a 36 with the extenders on the last hook. Hopefully it will start to reduce soon x

Re: the fit of the sports bra
The swelling is the worst bit and can make your bra feel very tight. It will go down given a few more days. Lots of ice packs will help and cushioning the band as cookie has advised.
Re: the fit of the sports bra
I went up a band size 34 - 36 a week later once the swelling started to go down was back in the 34 and now I'm in a 32. It's awful at first but it will go down.
