Scaremongoring. The US mentailty is sue the crap out of everyone. So the FDA will admit that silicone 'may' cause problems just to cover their own .
The majority of women who have implants go on to lead normal, healthy lives. The problems these women have are mainly psycological, attributing their symptoms to be this foriegn body in them.
I don't believe any of it personally.

Re: girls what do u think on this? Its kind of worrying
Completely agree, funny theres no UK sites of women claiming to be very ill from implants. I dont think you should be worried Nat, have you had any symptoms since your BA? I could understand if it was hindering your health. I think theres more chemicals in the food we eat nowadays lol x

i read the first few paragraphs and got bored, we all know the real risks involved but also know the new found confidence implants bring, the day these other assumed risks are proved as 100% gospel then that's the day i'll listen, she seems a little unreal to me, a bit like an anti-surgery campaigner thanks for sharing Nat X

it was long winded and boring but think its just someone trying to scare people...sure a few people may be ill and have implants BUT it may just be coincidence!!! Thousands have boobies enhanced and thousands are fine....too late to scare menow lol x

Yes, I think someone was just trying to wind up the sofem ladies (yet again and so easily done !).
Strictly speaking, no, we don't know what the long term consequences will be because we haven't got to the end of our lives yet, and neither have previous generations of implanted women.
.
All the data I've seen shows no causal link between implants and systemic illness to date. And actually, a number of studies show we tend to be healthier and richer than richer than the average person!!

Yea I agree Renz, and the US is sue-happy, so if anyone can get money out of anything, them blame it on breast implants if you have them.
I had my BA, there are some risks, but there are also risks with using certain toothpastes or drinking from a can, etc and I dont see why the FDA would approve something that is harmful to you.
I was concerned with the CUI implants because they were not U.S FDA approved, but it would be interesting to see if there is any study been carried out between ruptures of FDA and non FDA approved implants and whether there is a huge difference.

wow, surely the amount of years that impants have been used they would of noticed if ppl were getting ill from them, this is just another thing blown out of proportion from the press.
Think of the thousands which have had it done,
i agree its just psychological problems with some women becasue they know they have a foreign object in the their body.
Love emz

Re: girls what do u think on this? Its kind of worrying
Well .....we will all be suffering together then if we believe all this
At my first consultation my P.S. spoke of all of these issues, some women claiming to have weak immune systems, sore body muscles and arms, legs etc.etc. I had already read most of the 'reports' on the downsides, asked his opinion as I felt it rather unlikely as they all seem to live outside the U.K. and all female. I believe he was of the same opinion of me. However, he has to make you aware if you ask.
I do believe we have to be aware of 'official medical research', good and bad and balance your decision on proven data worldwide. Also on both sexes, as men also have implants.
So, I am quite happy and feel as safe as you can do with implants. People have silicone implants in all parts of their body for medical reasons too. Soo I think the benefits far outweigh the reports of some perhaps pshcologically unstable or misguided people.
So I say enjoy what we have made an informed decision to have :) xxx

I think it's scaremongering. I've written a post back to her.
She's entitled to her own opinion but she shouldn't have gone about it the way she did...
I think it's a tad suspicious. Sounds far too "journalist" to me...

I couldn't care less. I love my boobs and they have made such a difference to my confidence, that definatly out weighs any what-if fears. I could get run over by a bus tomorrow!!!! Or contract swine flu, but i aint gonna put my life on hold because it might happen.

I found it patronising to be honest . Does she think none of us have throughly researched this and the many other aspects of BA ourselves?
Sounded far too pleased with herself for my liking mind you like SS got a bit bored after the first bit and flicked to the end!
