Trying on implants - Transform
Just a quick question - I've had one consultation with a surgeon, and I didn't try on any implants when the surgeon was there, it was afterwards with my patient co-ordinator. They also didn't have any of the implant sizes the surgeon offered me; the implant I tried on was 380cc, and I was offered 300cc or 365cc (I also couldn't tell if the implant was high or moderate profile), so I just had to guess what the 365cc implant, or a bigger implant, would look like on me.
I have another cosultation with a different surgeon tomorrow (but still with Transform), should I be trying on the implants with the surgeon, and is it normal for them to only let you try on one size implant, even if it's not the size you were offered?
Thanks :) xxx

Re: Trying on implants - Transform
I don't think this sounds right. I tried mine on with the surgeon, I was offered 410cc or 460cc and tried them both on... Along with 525cc just to see as he was showing me I would 'know' if the 410 or 460 were too big, he let me take forever. I don't see why you would only try on implants you hadn't been offered as it wouldn't give you and idea with what you will end up with. Maybe ask to go back if they don't have the sizes for you to try xx

Re: Trying on implants - Transform
Hiya hun!
I was given lots to try on, going up each time i said 'no bigger' lol. Thing she was giving me approx +50cc each time. I didn't actually know the cc's of what i was trying until i said 'ok, stop, this is the right size for me'. Turns out it was the 525cc which i have now!! I think this was the perfect way of doing it as your judging by how they look and feel wih your body and not blindsided by what cc they are!!
Why don't you ask to try them without knowing the cc's first., then find out after you feel comfortable!
xxxx

Re: Trying on implants - Transform
Thanks Mais, I didn't think it was right either.
That was the problem, I was offered the 365cc (the surgeon said the 410 might be too big but I made sure it was written in my notes for him to try the 410 in surgery and if it was too big then go down to the 3654cc), but when I tried the 380s on, I thought they were a bit too small for the look I was going for, especially as I wouldn't even be getting the 380, i'd be getting the 365s!
Added to that the surgeon said I should have unders, so I'd be losing a bit more of the size from that. Also, I'm currently a 32b so have some breast tissue there, but the implant was pushing down on my boob, but I'm guessing that after the implant goes in then the size of the implant will be added to the current size of my boob...
It was all so confusing, and I thought I should have been able to ask this to the surgeon, not the patient co-ordinator as obviously she hasn't got any medical experience.
Thanks again hun, sorry for the ramble lol xx

Re: Trying on implants - Transform
Just to add I went back for second consultation as I was unsure on size I had picked 460 but after second one decided on 410. I tried them on in a room with my mum second time round because I needed someone else's opinion. I don't think it matters who you try them on with as long as they are the sizes you have been offered xx

Re: Trying on implants - Transform
I tried my implants with the patient co ordinator. She was lovely and so patient. She had lots of different sizes and let me play around for ages, it shouldn't feel rushed as its YOUR decision and a very important one. They should definitely have the sizes you are choosing between to try on, otherwise what is the point? Thats like trying on a size 16 in a shop when you are only a 10!
Good luck with your next consultation xx

Re: Trying on implants - Transform
Thanks for all the replies :)
I guess it would be easier to do it with the surgeon as at least then he could answer any questions about it. But as I have already tried implants on (the one size anyway lol) I can ask him the questions tomorrow.
I'm definitely going to insist on trying the sizes I've been offered, like you say what's the point in trying on implants if it's a size that you aren't going to get.
Thanks again :) xxx

Re: Trying on implants - Transform
Lol my nightmare was choosing which size to go with. I was so worried when I should have just trusted the surgeon, as I got exactly what I wanted and either size would have been fine xx

Re: Trying on implants - Transform
Lol Mais i would be very happy if i was offered 410s lol!
Thanks Jakki...so were both of them in the room when you tried them? Or did the patient co-ordinator just show you the implants but you actually tried them in a sports bra with the surgeon?
xx

Re: Trying on implants - Transform
No just the Surgeon in the room. No need for the co ordinator. It's a private time. He was great , and had the sizes I required available to get my look . Was offered a chaperone. Maybe that would've been the co ordinator? It was hard enough getting my chest out in front of a stranger, I didn't want anymore then one in there x

Re: Trying on implants - Transform
Lots of clinics have a PCC go in with the surgeon Hun as reassurance for yourself and for him! (Safer for all concerned)
I didn't feel comfortable just trying on implants with a PCC. They work in an office/sales environment, they're not medical professionals and so I went with a company where the surgeon put my needs first (spending over an hour with me at each consultation).
You should definitely try on the exact size and profile recommended to you, and should ask why he has suggested which size and which profile. This was information I compared at each of my consultations (I saw 3 surgeons at different clinics, 2 more consultations with just pccs at 2 other clinics). The two most highly qualified surgeons (both BAAPS and BAPRAS registered, both reconstructive surgeons for the NHS) recommended similar sizes, the same placement and procedure and have the same reasons. I asked about the other procedure that the third surgeon had suggested and my ps told me why he wouldn't do this procedure, explaining to me the results he had doing that and why he hasn't been happy with the look it achieved.
I ended up going with this particular surgeon. Both times I was in there I tried on multiple sizes and makes of implants, had pen drawn all over me and asked him a hundred questions while standing in front of a mirror and him showing me what he could achieve. Both times there was the next client waiting for him to finish because he has gone over time. He literally wouldn't let me book until I was certain of what I wanted and that I wanted him as my PS.
Don't be rushed. It's a big decision and so many women make the wrong one and regret it later. You need to be confident in the clinic and your ps's ability, ( not the pcc's!) I would absolutely recommend seeing other surgeons at other clinics Hun it was invaluable for me as I learnt so much and was able to make an informed decision.
(Sorry for the essay!)xxx
