Psychology Appointment
I have an appointment with the psychologist tomorrow to try and get further evidence and support to put in front of the pct for my case for an uplift and implants. I am a bag of nerves about this. Could anybody tell me what to expect? Will I only have the one session?
Thanks

Re: Psychology Appointment
Hey, erm the appointment itself went really well with the surgeon saying he thought I had done impeccably well to lose so much weight and that there were very valid reasons leading to this weight gain in the first place and he was amazed at how I was coping etc. :/ He agreed to support me. However, I have received a copy of his letter of support and two things strike me about it. He hasn't once mentioned on it how awful I feel about myself and how my confidence is diminished entirely and I never let my partner see or touch my breasts and I worry non stop what people think of me. On the contrary he has instead gone on about how I am training to be a mental health nurse and getting on with my life. Surely the panel will see this and just think..well if she is getting on with her life just fine then she will continue to do so even if we don't do the op?! I am so confused by his letter. It in no way summarises the discussion we had during the appointment at all. I am scared that my case will just be dismissed after reading the report as it doesn't explain how disgusted I feel every time I look at myself and my disgusting saggy breasts. :(

Re: Psychology Appointment
It may be that he is trying to prove that mentally you are well enough to undergo surgery. If you were not coping with everyday life, they would just refer you for more counselling to help you cope mentally. At the moment they are clamping down in both the NHS and private surgeries on performing surgery on patients that may have mental heath issues that may affect their ability to cope with the surgery.
Re: Psychology Appointment
I never considered it from that angle and it makes sense what you are saying. :) I do think it should be a necessity to incorporate into the report an element of how the patient feels about themselves and how it affects them though surely so the panel have some idea?! I have rang the psychologists secretary this morning and explained my worries and she informed me she will contact him and get back to me. I hope I haven't made a mistake in doing so! I am grateful for him writing a report in my favour in the first place. :( xx

Re: Psychology Appointment
I was so nervous with my appointment as well, i think the fact you are training to become a mental health nurse is a good thing, and him mentioning that is also good.
I hope it all goes well :) I know how nerve racking it is, i was crying before my apt at the hospital, with the psychologist. Well done on the weight loss i'm trying to do that now :)
