Wearing bras before check up
I'm 7 weeks post op. scars are perfect, never had any issues with them. Boobs don't appear to have any problems.
My question is.. I don't see my surgeon till I'm 3 months post op as his diary is filled up. Would it be so bad to begin wearing normal bras before I get the all clear?
Do I really have to wait till nov before I can come out of my sports bras 24/7?? No one gave me any specific instructions regarding how long I should wear the sports bra for or anything like that

Re: Wearing bras before check up
I would contact your clinic/surgeon to check whether you would be allowed. It is quite normal to be in a sports/support bra until 12 weeks post op. Although I'd love to tell you yes its fine, but I cant. It may be ok for some at 6 weeks but you do have to get the all clear from your surgeon /clinic.
Re: Wearing bras before check up
I can't fault it. I was a daycare and went in for 8am, was second on the list, was in theatre by 10am as they said. Everyone was pleasant, the room was fine. People were nice. Your treated like this is the most normal thing in the world.
There were 2 girls who had a BA in July before me and I read their diaries, which are very descriptive, and everything happened just as they said.
The diaries are in the boob job diary section, it was Jodie and ... I think twinkle x

Re: Wearing bras before check up
Think of it this way Lian.... You've longed for your boobs for YEARS. you've worked hard and possibly struggled to pay for them, you've finally got them!
Now you have a short wait of just 3 months till you can enjoy them...
In wearing wires before your boobs have been checked and given the all clear by your clinic nurse/surgeon, you could put all the recovery time you've had so far all the way back....Your scars may look good to your sweetie, but in all due respect, you're no expert and an expert in this field will know when the time is right for YOU.
You also have to think about your aftercare too lovely. Should you wear wires before getting the all clear to do so, you risk the possibility of your after-care becoming void.
Hard to hear I know when you're so excited but it really is in yours and your boobs best interest to wait... it's not such a long time in the grand scheme of things is it lovely. xx

Re: Wearing bras before check up
The wires can irritate the capsule that's forming around your new boobies, if you wear them while the capsule is still delicate, you're more likely to get cc... it's not really to do with the scars!

Re: Wearing bras before check up
The actual main reason for wearing sportsbra is to give your boobs stability whilst the implant adheres to the pocket, forming a capsule, I've never actually heard of wires highering the risks of CC. Some ladies are advised from day 1 of surgery to wear wires depending on how their healing is, to encourage the lift of the breast so the pocket will form higher... this wouldn't higher the risk of developing CC?
Re: Wearing bras before check up
My surgeon said he doesn't like underwired bras as they irritate the capsule and increase risk of CC.
But maybe this is just a theory of his, or an anecdotal thing he's noticed...

Re: Wearing bras before check up
There are surgeons who don't like underwires full stop lovely and will try to discourage their patients from wearing them, but there is no evidence to suggest that 'underwires' would increase the risk
