When can I start laying flat again?
I keep waking up in the night panicking as I've slipped down the bed and laying flat? I'm only 5 days post op and wondered what would happen if I laid flat? xx

Nothing would happen sweety xx They advise you sleep with your head and shoulders raised above your body so that the fluids can drain and the swelling goes down quicker xx
as you heal and get better you will gradually slip further down the bed until you are horizontal xx

Re: When can I start laying flat again?
I doubt anything would happen, I was told by a nurse I could start slipping down the bed until eventually I found it comfortable to sleep on my back...
So one night I had a great sleep on my back cos its so difficult to sleep slightly up, but I got 2 pillows, a vpillow and an airline neck pillow and sleep fantastic the last few nights xxx

Pop a pillow under your knees franky, that should stop you slippin lovely. It takes pressure from your back too xx
Re: When can I start laying flat again?
I think they only tell you to sleep sitting up a bit to prevent morning boob (as well as preventing fluid build up).
I think i was sleeping flat after about a week - but I had very little - no pain :)

Re: When can I start laying flat again?
I started to lower my sleeping position after 14 days. Sleeping in a flatter position caused morning boob some mornings x

Re: When can I start laying flat again?
I'm with you silver panther I hate sleeping upright as my bum goes to sleep and can't get comfy :0(
Luckily my boyfriend has been brilliant and the min I move he's awake and helping me so I don't do too much. He is on nights over the weekend so I'm staying at my parents for 2 nights.
I've had the air bubble thing really pleased you mentioned that as yesterday I was like ' what the hell was that' but it didn't hurt.
I'm not sure I could lean over and have my hair washed at the mo so surviving on dry hairspray, yuk!

Re: When can I start laying flat again?
my surgeon asked me to sleep raised only for the first night and he said from the 2nd i'd only need to use one pillow! but I also found very helpful to place another pillow under my bum, i think it reduces the presure from the back otherwise i was waking up with a terrible pain in the lower part of my back...hope this helps anyone

Re: When can I start laying flat again?
Dove - morning boob a really annoying pain some girls get first thing in the morning. I think it's because we've haven't moved for so long that when we get up, all the blood rushes back into our boobs and makes them feel sore and throbbing as soon as you get up. It doesn't last long, maybe a few minutes. I used to have to just sit on the edge of the bed for a bit grabbing my boobs and try to catch my breath until I could stand up and go downstairs. It doesnt seem to happen to everyone though so you might be one of the lucky ones.
Also, you won't need to sleep bolt upright, you just need to make sure that your head is raised above your body so you can just sleep slightly slanted or elevated.
Not long to go for you now! xx

Dove, I see you're going with mybreast, as I did. I can assure you you will get excellent care from there, and the surgeons and hospitals they use are top notch!
If you want you can read my diary which is called nervous dear diary in the diary section! It might make u feel better, as I had a great experience overall.
Good luck!

Re: When can I start laying flat again?
The knee pillow has been the key for me. Also raising the knees slightly takes the pressure off of your lower back to stop you getting back ache from having raised shoulders. Xx

Re: When can I start laying flat again?
Thanks tink. Your new avi is looking fabulous!
That bra is a 34E but think that is mainly down to swelling. Think may need a smaller back size too. It's so hard to tell, but the DD was cutting me in half.
