chest xray
The title says it all really! I'm going for a chest xray and I didn't mention my implants to my GP, I probably should have it just seemed a bit awkward!
Will an xray be safe? I assume I'll have to mention it at some point otherwise they'll think I have two very large cysts in a convinient place haha. Has anybody had an xray, what was it like? X

Re: chest xray
I've had an x ray on my jaw and it was fine to have one. Just tell the person doing the x-ray
Re: chest xray
You'll have to tell them at the Xray department babe. They will be able to see the implants on the Xray, so in telling them you have implants they can arrange the Xray so that it's in the best position to get a clear picture of your cysts without your implants obstructing vision. xx
Re: chest xray
Yes I've had an x-ray. It was fine, I had to stand up in this thing, and they asked me to take a deep breath in, and that was it. x

Re: chest xray
Cookie I don't have cysts I said the implants would look like that if I didn't warn them haha
Thanks girls, I had it in my head that I'd read somewhere it can cause a rupture.. clearly I must have imagined that one!!
The X-ray isn't serious, I've had problems with feeling breathless for quite some time... It's probably anxiety but the GP just wants to run a few test's because it's been going on a while. Should be nothing, definitely regret smoking in my youth though haha. x

Re: chest xray
hahahaha my fault Alice I read your post wrong .
I have to have quite a lot of chest Xray's Alice and have never been told of any risk that might be involved with having implants.
I only ever didn't tell a radiologist once and I had to be called back to have another Xray after getting myself dressed again because there was a problem with them being unable to see from where they Xrayed, so had to do it again and I don't know why, but I felt more embarrassed that time when they 'asked' me if I had implants than from just telling them when I'd been after that, so it's just easier from my experience to just discreetly mention it to them. They never seem shocked or anything when I've told them and have always remained very professional, so don't worry about telling them babe.
Hope all comes back well xx

Re: chest xray
I've had a chest x-ray since having breast implants, I just told the xray man when I went in the room, felt a bit embarassed about it but he was totally fine and said it makes no difference at all, and that the newer implants don't even show up much on the xray, but it's best to mention it so they know what they're looking at, as they aren't as obvious as you might imagine on an xray.
Hope it goes ok, you just stand in front of the machine and it takes the picture, you keep your hospital gown on and it should be quite quick so no need to worry. x

Re: chest xray
I am an X-ray tech and yes it is safe..haha. And breast implants won't really show up on a chest X-ray. An MRI will show it though
