I would say it should settle down by 2 weeks, it is a horrid feeling isn't it, having these new boobs and then a big belly to go with it lol

Re: How long does Buddha belly last?
Mine lasted until I had a big poo after 3 days (and it was worse than childbirth!)
Apologies if that's a little too much!

Is there any reason that anyone knows of that I couldn't drink a pap load of prune juice if I get to blocked up after my BA?

You can drink it if you want it might reduce the bloating it might not. My advice is if it's causing you pain do something about it, if you are stressing over the look of a bit of bloating chill out as you've just had a major operation and you need to give your body a bit of time to adjust. It won't hurt to leave it be safe in the knowledge it will go back to normal. You won't need to do a million sit ups every day.

Oh i don't mind bloating, jeez I just stopped being pregnant for two years, I'm used to my body being all kinds of shapes, just looking for solutions to constipation if it gets bad x

I was told by my nurse to have laxatives in just in case Lian, so i can't see prune juice being an issue. I was given an information sheet on how to deal with constipation.

Re: How long does Buddha belly last?
I'm an expert in bloating and number 2 issues! LOL
I drink lactulose syrup, its a stool softener so not as harsh as some laxatives. It just keeps everything soft and moving through your system properly. I'm planning on starting that after surgery, I know I'll get bloated and constipated following GA! I'm terrible.

Re: How long does Buddha belly last?
I'm almost four months post op and still have a buddha belly , but that's because I had a mini tt at the same time to fix old c-section scar so the post op swelling lasts months. For you, it shouldn't last much longer.
Prune jucie really helped me, though I went ott with it and the senna, didn't except things to unblock so soon afterwards, sorry tmi
Lactulose is amazing too, I had this after my second c-section. The syrup consistency is gross though but worth it. DH bought me some after my BA but I didn't need after all, read the above on overdoing it with the prune juice and senna

Re: How long does Buddha belly last?
Well apart from a few toilet problems (think a full bottle may have been too much) I'm doing good.
Been getting shooting pains around one of my incisions but I only mention it because even if you know to expect it you still worry. Everyone at home has reassured me that it's to be expected (I've never had to have stitches or anything before so don't really know what's normal). But I am mobile and clean and doing well :D

Glad you're feeling ok hun. I can imagine i'm going to end up thinking the worst of every ache and pain. Get ready for when i have my surgery. I'll be on here all day asking advice. Wishing you a speedy, problem free recovery.

Re: How long does Buddha belly last?
Thanks MrsH. It hasn't been anywhere near as bad for me then I had imagined. I thought I would be incapable of doing anything, but it hasn't been like that, it's more that you shouldn't do it than cant that you can't do it.
I just can't wait for the next 2 weeks to be up now so I can have a proper inspection :D
