If you feel like you can't breathe I would get a bigger band size, so maybe keep the same cup size (cause if you go up a band size you usually need to come down a cup size) so a bigger band in the same cup size should give you more room in the cup and band.

I agree with misf1 about going up a band size lovely, often after having a BA, your swelling kicks in and it's mostly around the rib area, but, I wouldn't suggest you get measured, you will get 'fitted' hopefully in M&S and it's possible you 'may' need to come down a cup size, to gain the same sized bra from a larger band, this doesn't mean your boobs have shrunk at all, they're exactly the same size e.g a 34D is exactly the same size as a 32DD, so don't worry about that, but if the swelling has extended to your boobs too, you may need to keep the cup size you have with the larger band size, but it would be best to try both on to get the best fit for yourself. xx

I agree with Misf and Cookie here, its worth trying them on to find the right fit. I ordered a few Shock Absorbers from ebay and it was a bit of trial and error... luckily they were really cheap so it was worth it.

Don't go mad buying them if its just swelling though, I have a few 34D's I only needed for two weeks.x
