How do i remove the glue? Help!
Morning ladies
I saw my surgeon monday just gone and he removed the big plaster covering my wounds and then informed me that my stitches were dissolvable and id been glued!
He said i could shower and that i should wash under my new boobs with an antibacterial soap to get rid of the glue, then to use the savlon spray to flush away any debris.
Ive been doing this now everyday since but still have glue there, now this stuff is quite hard and i cant pick it, any ideas??
Anyone else had the glue?
xx

I think you just have to give it time hun. It will go away in the end, But, going to sound like your mum here ,DONT PICK IT That could lead to all sorts of probs that you dont want. Hope all is good apart from the glue ? xx

Ha ha, no dont worry i wont pick it, i understand the risks :o)
Its just so annoying as i can feel it, even without touching it. Its not like the sticky layer thats left after you remove a plaster, its like a layer of super glue, its hard and scratchy, yuk!
I'll be patient

haha god knows!!!
Emm apparently it protects the nipples during surgery, its like the glue my surgeon said?!?!?! Its awful ive just about managed to get it all off, my nipples looked like they were from a different planet......very shiney....they looked even more bizzare when it was half peeled off haha and it made them very sensitive lol xxx

The glue will start to dissolve in time. The more your washing & the more the skin heals it will just start to flake off. Sadly it's just gonna take a little while.

Thanks Gillian, i think our surgeons just presume we know these things because they do :o)
Then i started to worry that the glue itself would cause an irritation or infection if left on too long xx

Oh I know! There are so many things that no one would even think about before BA and it is like a minefield after.
I'm still pre BA but in my experience on the wards with the glue on wounds it just tends to flake off as the skin regenerates. can look weird for a while tho Like small scabs.
the worst thing in the world is picking it, If you do it can expose parts of the wound that are not quite healed & then in turn let in infection.
I'm a picker I hope I don't end up with it or I'll be a nightmare! :heehee:

Agree with the girls hunni - don't pick!! I had the same but I was to chicken to wash hard or even touch them for weeks!!
After a while I looked under there with a mirror at my incision and the glue seemed to be gone. Couldn't touch them for a long while. So it definitely will wash off eventually and if it doesn't then when you go for a post op the nurses will know what to do.
Hugs and happy healing!!
