surgeons in birmingham
ok so i rang up the cllnic as i have my consultation on 16th july and i stated im booked in to see mr schiavone but she booked and picked the surgeon for me rather than me booking my surgeon so after much research of mr schiavone i dont feel that he is the one i want? but was told he is the only one in my area unless i want to travel to london or manchester to see mr singh or mr traynor so theses are my other options so bit confused on what to do as its really hard for me to travel that far!!

Re: surgeons in birmingham
What clinic are you going with?
I was placed with a surgeon my first time, but I wasn't keen on him and after plenty of research from finding out all of the surgeons who worked in my area (or where I was willing to travel to). Researching helped me narrow it down and in the end I had my eye on Mr Clarke. When I rang to arrange a second consultation I just asked out right to see him, it was never a problem but I would have made every effort to see who I wanted otherwise.
Its your money and your body so if you don't like who you're getting placed with ask for a list of surgeons and where they work, its worth the travel if it means getting the perfect surgeon in the process. x

Re: surgeons in birmingham
Have you thought about clinics? If you aren't sure about the surgeon then its worth looking into other options.
Also could you offer to pay somebody to collect you? I got the train by myself for my BA and that was fine on the way there but I agree, getting the train back wouldn't be very nice. You'd manage it but you would still need somebody to escort you as you wouldn't be allowed to leave the hospital by yourself. I know some clinics offer a pick up and drop off service so that could be worth looking into.

Re: surgeons in birmingham
There are some very good surgeons in Birmingham who have a good reputation, i have had consults with Mr Fatah and there is also a lady called CC Kat. Do some research on them, hope that helps sweetie xx

Do MYA not offer this service? Try some consultations at whatever clinics are near you... or start a thread to find out other girls experiences etc.
Don't just go with a surgeon because it looks like its your only option, you have plenty of choices sweetie :) x

Re: surgeons in birmingham
Yes like Alice said i would just go and see a few surgeons and see who you feel most comfortable with. I had a consult with Mr Fatah and i was going to with CC Kat but then realised it would be a bit of a nightmare for me to keep going down to birmingham for post op checks.I think Mr Fatah only works privately, not for a big clinic, not sure about CC Kat. The big companies usually offer a better aftercare than going direct to the surgeons, i went with Mybreast, i dont know who there surgeons are in birmingham, so mayb give them a ring and ask for some names or ask them to send you surgeons cv's in that area.
