Consultation booked with Mrs Kat (Birmingham)
Hi Ladies,
Just thought I would drop a message to say hello as I'm new to this forum and very slowly getting my head around how to use it!
This morning I booked my BA consultation for the 10th Feb with Mrs Kat in Birmingham. I'm so nervous, and it's only a consultation!!
I found researching surgeons and companies a bit of a nightmare and quite overwhelming, but hers is a name that I found came up again and again both on forums and in the press with great reviews. Annoyingly there are no before/after pictures on her website, so if anyone else has had Mrs Kat I would love to speak to you!!
At this stage I would love to make some friends to talk to, be nervous/excited with and learn as much as I can from! I'm fortunate that my mum had a BA years ago as is thrilled with the results - so I luckily have her as a good source of info!
I'm mainly feeling a little nervous at this stage. My thoughts keep going round in roundabouts (Am I too young?! Will they look fake? Will people know? Will people judge me? What will they look like after babies? Will they hard or soft?). I know this is mostly down to nerves, but at the same time I get a little thrill of excitement everytime I imagine bra shopping or simply looking down and seeing a real life CHEST!!
At the moment I am a 32b (small B), a size 8 and pretty lean and slim. I'm 5 foot 7/8 and aged 25.
Ideally want as natural a shape and size as possible (so probably a large C, small D) that will enable me to wear swim wear confidently (NO MORE PADDING!) and clothes fit me better!
Looking forward to chatting to you all x

Re: Consultation booked with Mrs Kat (Birmingham)
Hi. Mrs Kat is a great surgeon by all accounts. Best thing to do is write down all of your concerns and questions for when you go into your consultation. That way if you do get a little flustered (which is so easily done), you've got a list to reel it back in. Have a little look here for some ideas [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Another good thing to do is to Google and look for some pictures of boobs that you like, and want to achieve, and some you don't like. You'll discuss it with the surgeon and they'll come up with the best plan to suit what you want out of the surgery.
Have a good read of the BA info section, it'll go someway to start answering all of your questions.

Thankyou! That's super helpful and I'll definitely check these links out and have a good look at some pics.
Did you find you had similar thoughts and feelings going round your head at the lead up to the consultation!? xx

Hi welcome to the forum. I had a very good surgeon and there were no before and after pictures on the web. But I did see photos when at my consultation. Take a picture with you of what you are after. It really helps xxx

Re: Consultation booked with Mrs Kat (Birmingham)
I had the fear for a while, but got to a point where I was like, I can wonder about it all I want, but until I pull my finger out and get to a consultation, I'm never going to have any concrete answers. So my first consultation was back in Jan 2012 I think, with just a view to get some answers, never to book. It wasn't until a year later, March 2013 that I realised I could afford it and went back again.
Getting the first consultation under your belt will help loads. You'll get a feel for the different implants available, what size, profile, placement etc will be best for you. Plus that first jump is always the hardest, so once you've got one under your belt, the next will be easy. We always recommend getting at least 2 or 3 different consults for comparison.

Re: Consultation booked with Mrs Kat (Birmingham)
Hi Blush,
I wouldn't worry about before/after photos as surgeons will only show their best work.
I went to see Mrs Kat and she showed me before/after pics at the consultation of someone with similar boobs with the same procedures we were discussing. I went to see her twice and the 1st time you will spend about 40 mins with her and then see the nurse for sizing.
I would suggest a list of questions as I was a bit dazed by the whole procedure and forgot to ask loads and loads of questions
Good luck x

Thanks anneritchly, that's a good idea! Xx
Charlii - thanks so much, that's really great to hear you felt the same way. It's just taking the plunge I guess and stop over thinking it! I know once I'm there it'll be fine, it's just the nerves leading up. God knows what I'll be like if I book the op! Eveytime I get nervous I just picture myself with lovely new boobs and suddenly feel a lot better! Xxx

Hi lairy
Thanks for the message. That's really reassuring to know. Did you not pick her in the end then? Were you impressed with her before and after pics? Xxx

Re: Consultation booked with Mrs Kat (Birmingham)
Hi blush,
You've chosen a great great surgeon and there are ladies that have had her.
I'm glad you have the support of your mum too. That's great she can be of help to you as she's been through it herself.
Well you're certainly in the right place for support, making new boobie friends and having all your questions answered and airing all your nerves and excitement!
The boobie journey is a roller coaster of emotions and nerves do set in and the doubt, but don't worry it's all normal and try and focus more on the outcome and the fab result you'll end up with!
25 is not young for a ba you done pretty much all your growing and I had my first around 24 years of age. (After 2 children)
As for looking fake, no unless that's the look you're after (like mine!) and no one will know unless you tell them.
Good luck with the consultation Hun, it's all exciting !

Re: Consultation booked with Mrs Kat (Birmingham)
Welcome to Breast Buddies Blush
I was only saying the day how patients for Mrs Kat have gone really quiet. She was very popular here about a year ago and we've not heard from many patients of hers since (not hearing back from her old patients is a good thing. It means they're very happy with their results.)
Mrs Kat is one of the top surgeons we have in this country and she has an excellent reputation. In saying that it's best not to get carried away with the excitement if having surgery and have at least one other consultation so you have one other surgery plan and surgeon to compare. If you don't have any other surgery plan or surgein to make your comparison with you never know if you made the absolute right decision, so being able to see more than surgeon just helps clear up any doubts you may have over the surgery plan suggested or the surgeon. As good as any surgeon is, not everyone will click with them.
The Breast Buddies notebook Charlii linked you too is a great tool to take with you on consultations and if you'd like to print that off to take you and you're having problems accessing that from the forum, just email me through my profile and I'll get the notebook sent out to you for your use.
I dvery much advise also taking some time to read through the information in the Breast Augmentation Information section of the forum. This is filled with so much information to help you get well on your way to getting your perfect boobs. Any questions or concerns you might have, just create a new thread in this section (General Breast Augmentation section) and we'll do all we can to help yyou get the best guidance we can offer.
Enjoy the forum Blush x

Re: Consultation booked with Mrs Kat (Birmingham)
Thankyou so much for your help girls. This forum is brilliant and so useful!
Yes I haven't come across many posts about her on here but I have heard great reviews both in the press and through other forums etc. I'm so excited!
I have in fact booked a consultation with Rajiv Grover in London but I think I may cancel. He is booked up to the end of March (although I guess that is a good sign) but his consultation fee is £200 and operations I have read start at around 6,900 - 8k!! That's just far too much for me :(
Kat seems alot more affordable and I cant really afford to go to two consultations (Mrs Kat is £120 and RGrover £200). My mum raves about a lady called Linda Fiumara at Transform who did her surgery when she had to have her PIPS taken out after that whole scandal. I've had a look at her website though and some of the pics in her gallery dont quite look like the look and shape I'm after so I'm worried they wouldn't look as natural..
That said, completely appreciate it's a good idea to go to more than one consultation. I think I just need to do a little more research into surgeons/companies before picking a second one!

Re: Consultation booked with Mrs Kat (Birmingham)
You seem to know who the good surgeons are as in Mrs Kat and Mr Grovenor who is the immediate ex president of BAAPS hence his ability to call in more money for his work.
If you're sticking with a BAAPS surgeon which I personally think is the best way to go but money is an issue for consultations, take a look at MyBreast. Their surgeons are all BAAPS members but the consultation cost is only £25 no matter which surgeon you choose. Xx

Re: Consultation booked with Mrs Kat (Birmingham)
I think it's because I've literally spent hours and hours researching haha! His name and Kats name seemed to come up time and time again and I was really impressed by RJ's website which showed some excellent before and after pics.
MyBreast sounds like a really good alternative. I live in London and just seen on of their hospitals is literally 10 mins away from my house which would certainly make life easy PO!
Thanks for your help, excited to start doing some more research and reading up on this forum! xxx

Re: Consultation booked with Mrs Kat (Birmingham)
Hi blush I was all ready to book with mrs Kat and the only reason I didn't was that I just clicked better with the surgeon I saw for my 3rd consultation. he also offered a different solution which I found more appealing. That is not to say anything negative about Mrs Kat. She has a fantastic reputation amongst her clients and is highly esteemed by surgeons. I was impressed with her manner, information and work, which is why I almost booked with her -it's just a question of personal preference and what feels right for one person may not feel right for another. When is your consultation date?

Re: Consultation booked with Mrs Kat (Birmingham)
Hi there! From everything ive heard Mrs Kat is really good. Everybody seems to like her too! I almost booked a consultation with her for a second opinion after my consultation with my surgeon, not because I wasn't happy, I really was! Just wanted a second opinion. When I looked her up it turned out that my surgeon is Mrs Kats peer mentor so I didn't bother as I had such a good feeling from my guy anyway.
I did read a post on here about a lady bottoming out 23 months post op and Mrs Kats aftercare was only for a year, so she was having to pay for a reop herself.
If u use the search bar up the top maybe there will be some threads with her in. That was the first bit of negative I had read that had anything to do with her.
Maybe just make sure you are happy with the aftercare package that is offered:) x

Re: Consultation booked with Mrs Kat (Birmingham)
All BAAPS surgeons have the possibility of having ASC insurance. So do always ask your surgeon if they have this.
If they do, then 29days after surgery by which you'll be already covered by the clinics aftercare your ASC insurance will then kick in. This covers you for two years.
All Spires patients have one years cover, but if they do have the ASC insurance it automatically bumps it up to two.
Not all surgeons do have the insurance though which is why it's so important to ask. As the ASC insurance is still relatively new some surgeons aren't yet up to speed with it, but if they are interested just direct them to the BAAPS news releases and they'll find the information there about it. Xx

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] that's really interesting thankyou so much. I have printed it off to remind me to ask her when I go in!
The aftercare side of thing was worrying me. These top surgeons all sounds great but the aftercare compared to some of the bigger companies seems pretty limited. I'm pretty sure with Rajiv Grover the aftercare only included one follow up appointment!
If Mrs Kat doesn't do the ASC insurance in place, are there any other forms of insurance you can take out if you pick a surgeon with limited aftercare? Would general health insurance cover it?
Thanks so much, you ladies are a god send! xxxxx

Re: Consultation booked with Mrs Kat (Birmingham)
I will say Blush from over the almost 6 years now most of the complications we've seen here have been from the large commercial clinics so in seeing the better surgeons you do actually lessen the risk of complication if that makes sense.
There are no other insurance policies out there that will cover you for cosmetic risk that I'm aware of Blush. The ASC actually covers the surgeon and not you, but they claim on your behalf if need be. X
