Re: will your surgeon prescribe you valium
You have absolutely nothing to worry about lovely
Dont get yourself psyched up for a bad time babe, I think you'll be very surprised at how well you cope after having a BA. Sure you're uncomfortable, but nothing you can't manage and the time soon flies till you're up and about too.
Ask your surgeon if you think it might make you feel better, I'm not sure you'll be prescribed it though, you might be better asking Mr Alvi this question in the 'ask a surgeon' section, being that he's a BAAPs registered surgeon, but I think you're gonna just fine babe xx

Don't worry about the sleeping thing, it is a pain in the bum but not worth stressing about. You'll be tired anyway as your body heals so while you may have an interrupted sleep pattern I don't think you'll be wide awake at all hours!
As for bathing I would have a shallow bath, keep my sports bra on, use clean towels/flannel everyday, wash myself then around my upper body avoiding my boobs. Then I'd jump out, flip my head upside down over the bath and use a jug to wash my hair! I got by doing that just fine and I'm an absolute clean freak, it really worried me but you'll find a way to manage... Just have to take your time! X

Yep I did the same thing, sat in a shallow bath then flanneled the upper half.
Have to say I wasn't brave enough to wash my hair for a week, I used dry shampoo. I'd recommend picking some up just in case you have discomfort lifting your arms or leaning forward xx

Re: will your surgeon prescribe you valium
Very unlikely you'll be prescribed Valium babe, there is a new initiative now where drs are trying to cut down on the prescribing of benzos due to them being so addictive x

Hiya poppets,
I agree with everyone and like Alice says you'll be so worn out anyway you'll sleep fine on and off, having mine done was like a holiday and by the end I was sick of taking it easy! So enjoy it while you can I say X

Re: will your surgeon prescribe you valium
I slept better during the first week bizarrely. I'm coming up to a fortnight post op now & my sleep has been worse the last 3 or 4 nights. I think it may be down to me getting stressed about going back to work next Monday though! But still not feeling tip top generally, though it's getting better. The nurse reckoned a week off work would be sufficient. I booked off 2, just because I needed a break from work anyway and so glad I did. There's no way I'd have been able to go back to work on Monday. I went out for a walk on Tuesday (8 days post op) and felt like an old woman. Walking on the flat, I was slow & found it hard work. Very strange for me as I'm a runner & cyclist (not the extreme type mind!).
But, no Hot knockers (love the name btw), don't worry about sleeping after the op, just enjoy the enforced rest & good luck!

Re: will your surgeon prescribe you valium
I don't know what size I was, I could never find bras that fitted me! But I wore a 34A which had space in it still. I was always too embarrassed to go & get measured. I'm wearing a 34D sports bra now.
Are you having unders or overs? My op was Monday before last, so will only just be 2 weeks post op when I go back to work on Monday (utterly dreading it tbh, but that's not to do with my op, I just hate my job). Physically though, I wouldn't have been up for the 1 hour drive each way nor just being at work, I know I'd have got absolutely nothing done. I'm driving now, but finding it a bit uncomfortable still, so only short & necessary journeys. I'm due to go back to work this coming Monday, but if I'm not feeling up to it (the op/ drugs seem to have taken it out of me), I may phone into work & ask if I can work from home for a few days, as I already do so once a week anyway. I should also say, that I was on antibiotics before the op for tonsillitis (which I told them all about) and before that, had had a virus, and had had another load of stress (nowt to with the op) planted on me, so it's been like one thing after another for a while & am convinced my body is saying 'look here you, I've had quite enough of this, I'm putting my foot down now, I simply must rest!!' Plus I'm getting older & don't quite have the 'bounce back' that i used to!
I'm sure though, if you've got 2 weeks altogether, you should be fine. But just see how it goes, you can't really tell how you'll recover until you're there, but generally, I think most people are surprised by how different it is to what they think it'll be like.x
