Surgeon just been to see me!
He says once they find another painkiller that I can take aswell as the codeine (im used to codeine) then I'm good to go home.
He says my swelling is ok and when he was stitching and gluing me up he said it was actually the smaller one. He'll see me back in 6 weeks but more than happy to see me before then if I want.
Excited to go home :)
Not looking forward to the long dive and discomfort being on windey bumpy roads but looking forward to my own bed with electric blanket :)
Xx

Re: Surgeon just been to see me!
Is it normal for one to swell up a huge amount compared to the other one?? Quite a difference in size.

Re: Surgeon just been to see me!
hey kati, remember they are two separate ops so can be affected differently.
just keep an eye on them. does the more swollen one feel any different, hot to the touch? that could possibly indicate an infection but if it doesnt feel any different to you at the moment, i would just put an ice pack on (or a bag of frozen peas), keeping them well away from the incisions, to help with the swelling x

Re: Surgeon just been to see me!
Aww been thinking of u glad it went well. Worst bits over with x in answer to your Q yes it's normal for one to swell bigger than the other, I am happy to send u my picture trail password as my left was twice as big as my right just after surgery and u can see from my photos How it changed each week to look the same. Two separate surgeries so one has greater swelling that's all x

Re: Surgeon just been to see me!
My leftie is more swollen than right but doesn't hurt. The right was pained a lot more after the op but didn't hurt to have drains out, whereas left was a bit more stingy xxx

Re: Surgeon just been to see me!
Thanks Loui, sent you back a PM :)
Kdee, how did yours go? How are you feeling now?
It's my left that's swollen too Kdee and a lot harder than my right..
I didn't get any drains, my surgeon said he doesn't use them...
Just taken some more pain killers and going to have something to eat... put some witch hazel on them earlier to help with swelling and they started to itch a bit so it helped take the itch away...
the macom is so tight it's really hurting my back but small price to pay I guess... Happy healing Kdee :)
xx

Happy healing to you too Kati
I have PMd you for your pic trail details too and sent you mine in return.
It's funny how our lefties misbehave. Lets hope they settle down asap. I must take some arnica- been really bad remembering to take it enough this week...
Sorry your macom is uncofortable- what size do you wear? xx

Re: Surgeon just been to see me!
aww sorry Kdee, never even saw you had PM'd me.. will get right on that hehe!
I've been taking arnica since my BA and I put a little arnica cream over my stitches as I don't have any dressings over them... I put witch hazel around them for the first time tonight and it feels like it made a difference. They were getting itchy and sore.. and it's good for swelling, itching, antiseptic and over all perfect for this and was only £5 or so in the shop :)
I'm wearing a 28-30 macom... I was wearing 32 but was told it was too big for me... (it was always on tightest one)... I have back problems anyways but I guess this is extra strain and also because your holding yourself in funny positions trying not to hurt you new boobies and sitting up all the time is just causing it agro...
my electric blanket helped when I went for a lie down earlier though... and I'm allowed extra painkillers like tramadol because im used to taking codeine for my back so it isn't as affective..
xx

Re: Surgeon just been to see me!
Bless babe- I really hope the back eases up. Being upright is gonna be uncomfortable for a while :(
Just wanted to say that I've been asked to not to apply anything on the scars. I guess every surgeon/hospital is different and always follow their advice.
I took tramadol earlier too- made me sleep- not a bad thing. Will take some before I try to sleep later too. So worried I will turn onto my side at night. I have built a pillow walls on either side.... xx
