Questions!!!!!!!
Hi Ladies!!!! I am still in my research stage n come across the following questions n wish you guys could help me :-)
1,was it really painful? i can handle most pain - been in a car accident, broke my bones when i was 7 etc......geez...... i heard some ppl say getting a boob job is really really painful... how bad was it for u guys?
2, how long is the healing process? i know each person is different. i heard from this one girl that she still couldnt dress/shower herself after 3 weeks!!!!! coz i am a bit concern that how many weeks do i need to take of work (i work in the office so there is not heavy lifting etc) so how long did it take u guys to go back to work/live normally?
Thanks ladies!!!!!!!

Re: Questions!!!!!!!
Welcome to the forum blue mango You've done the right thing coming here to get first hand experiences!
For me it wasn't painful, just uncomfortable! I found I ached quite a bit and if I didn't take my meds on time I would have a "ready to burst" feeling. This was alleviated by remembering to take my meds and using ice packs on my boobs while they were still in the swelling stage. I was unable to do simple things like flush the loo, unplug a charger not because it was painful just challenging... During the healing stage your upper body is under quite a bit of stress and it's very important you rest as much as possible and that's where it helps to have someone with you during your recovery.
I found by the 3rd day I could wash and dry my hair by myself if I took my time, I could easily dress myself the day after after the op and never had an issue lifting my arms above my head as some girls do. Getting into my skinny jeans, well that's always a challenge but more so after a BA haha. I would suggest investing in lose fitting or stretch clothes... You'll love a hoody and leggins the first couple of weeks!
By the time I returned to work (2 weeks) I was pretty much feeling fine to do most things but of corse no lifting without a nurse/surgeons say so (generally at 6 weeks) so it was a case of not letting myself do things even if I thought I would cope!
I have a weak stomach and a low pain threshold, if I can breeze through with some ice packs and plenty of rest then I have every hope you can! X

Re: Questions!!!!!!!
Hiya mango!
I would say the pain is uncomfortable but bearable! For me it felt like I had done a extremely rigourous workout, but I did have unders which is a bit more invasive so it was uncomfortable when flushing the toilet etc!
Recovery times vary, I had 2 weeks off work, but even if you feel ok
it is critical that you rest and don't do too much or you could really damage yourself during your recovery. I think I could brush my own hair by day 4 or 5 lol.

I wouldn't describe the feeling as 'pain' bluemango, I'd refer to it as more of a 'discomfort' Your breast right after surgery will feel very engorged and tight. Your arms will be weak and you'll feel quite uncomfortable.
The worst for me was the 'morning boob' this is the time when you get up from sleeping/resting. You're breasts get that really tight engorged feeling and it honestly... it's not pleasant at all, but it is definately manageable.
Unless you are unfortunate enough to suffer a complication bluemango, the majority of women are over the worst by the first week, after your 1 week post-op check mostly all can shower after having their wounds checked and all being well, dressing can be difficult for the first week, but by week 2 even if you are still suffering some discomfort, you generally find a way around any difficulties by opting for clothing that are easy to get on and off.
Some women might suffer discomfort that effects them for longer than a week, for myself I took 2 weeks to recover and did have extensive surgery, but by the 3rd week I was just fine.
I suspect unless the girl you spoke to suffered a complication which hindered her recovery, she might have been exaggerating just a little sweetheart, in your job, if you don't have any complications, you will DEFINATELY be fine to go back to work after 2 weeks, many go back after 1 week, so don't worry sweetie, you'll be just fine. xx

This would depend on your skins natural elasticity sweetheart. You can help try to prevent stretch marks by ensuring your skin is well moisturised daily, keep the skin as supple as possible.
Some ladies are naturally prone to stretch marks and no matter what you try some will get them. I, like Barbicon, have stretch marks from having children/breast feeding and didn't get any more after having my BA. My existing stretch marks immediately after my BA turned bright red, some were almost blueish from the skin being stretched, but I continued moisturising throughout my recovery, avoiding my new scars of course and again tried keeping the skin as supple as I could and they didn't worsen at all either. After my boobs had healed the stretch marks returned to the fine silvery lines they were before and they dont bother me at all.
I know some women who have stretch marks as a result of their BA, but honestly bluemango, their attitude to this has been that's it's a small price to pay for their beautiful new boobs. xx

What you descibe bluemango sounds like double bubble, which is a complication that can occur when you have breast implants, but not necessarily because you have had children sweetheart. We have MANY mothers here who have had children, successfully breast fed and their breasts still look fantastic!
When thinking about having children in the future, it's not so much your implants you have to worry about, it's you skin and it's natural elasticity babe!
If you have great skin then your implants will be perfect after having a baby, it's possible, the breast may drop due to having children, just as any natural breast would for some mothers it's this that you have to consider lovely and whether the 'natural effects of childbirth' would bother you?
As for complications... You should be aware that when you have breast augmentation there are no guarantees that you wont suffer a complication with having breast implants and that the chance are bluemango that you will need a re-op within 10 years of implantation although some lucky women can go through life with no complications at all.
It's a lot to take in isn't it babe and you do need to feel sure that this surgery is the right decision for you.
Ask as many questions as you'd like lovely, we're more than happy to try and answer them for you if we can xx
Re: Questions!!!!!!!
Hi hun, I'm just catching up here with all the questions. I had no pain just a bit of discomfort. I took 2 weeks off work just to make sure I was well enough to return. I was able to look after myself after 3 days making sandwiches, microwave meals and I was able to have shallow baths (i wasn't allowed a shower until 14 days post op when I had my stitches out) and I was able to wash my own hair (badly) after 3 days with a jug of water over the bath. No one really knows if u will get stretchmarks or not. I am prone to them, my legs and bum are covered in them, but I don't have a single one on my boobs? Just lucky I guess. And lastly I had my implants before I had children, luckily I have overs so if mine do sag after babies, it should be more a ball in sock look than double bubble, but that's a worst case scenario, which I did discuss with my ps prior to surgery. He said I may need a lift I may not. However I'm not young and will have to admit with age not on my side I may not have skin elasticity on my side.

Re: Questions!!!!!!!
I wouldn't say its extremely painful, although some people find pain different. For me it was just uncomfortable, I didn't need co-codamol or extra pain relief, Usually the people that tend to tell you its painful is the women that have never actually had it done, and they tend to be the ones who also feel the need to tell you horror stories.
Honestly you will be quite surprised how well you handle the pain.

If you're happy with how your boobs look and you have no complications there is absolutely no reason whatsoever for you to have to change your implants at all sweetness. As long as you're happy, barring any complication, you can keep 'em for life!

Sorry hun, I had my implants before a baby, but I am still in the planning stages for a baby at the moment, maybe later on this year.
Re: Questions!!!!!!!
In all honesty, I expected the pain to be much worse than it was, but maybe I just have a pretty high threshold lol x

Re: Questions!!!!!!!
Hi Mango :)
I had mine done a few months a go and i didnt suffer with much pain at all, I am just an impatient person and too independent, when i left the hospital the day after, i squeezed into a pair of skinnys and could put on a top and cardigan
However when the meds wore off during the night at hospital i did have a horrible pain down the left hand side it felt like the internal stitches were pulling on my muscle - when i moved. OUCH. get a few pills and i was fine.
so with that, i was fine to do everything but i did find it a pain to flush the toilet, its a press in button and it was a challenge. i went back to work after 2 weeks and that was a good time for me.
as for the stretch marks.I didnt have a single one :/ until i got my boobs done!I have 2 small ones near my nipple quite faint on both boobs on the outside. I have doubled my boob size and as i am quite young my skin is quite firm and i didnt have 'excess' so i think that is why
hope that help xxx
