Down to 4 fags a day... Eating everything in sight
Oh no.... I've gone from 20+a day down to 3 or 4 ( its been 2 days)want to go to 0 over next few days as op in 12 days time. I can't believe how starving I am all I wana do is eat eat eat.. And I am!!!!!... I'm dreading the weight gain, especially as won't be able to do much excercise for a while. Any tips???? I'm drinking lots of water to fill me up... Snacking on fruit as well as chocolate biscuits etc...

Well done on cutting down to a couple of cigarettes a day. Sounds like you are doing all the correct things, drinking water eating fruit etc.
Qutting is so hard, have you tried the nicorett gum? I know when you chew gum it can make more hungry but I have found the taste so bad it actually takes away the urge to eat.

I'm quitting again at the moment I'm on day 3 and I've not had any fags. I am drinking lots of water and snacking on fruit, fruit juice, carrots and a billion cups of de cafe tea. And lots and lots of sleep.
Re: Down to 4 fags a day... Eating everything in sight
I quit seven years ago, so can understand. I don't know if it's what you wanna hear, but I find exercise helps. I get moving, plus it helps me keep my weight down instead of binge eating. Water, and healthy snacks like carrot and celery sticks helps. Hope it gets easier, you've stopped very quickly so the first days will be the toughest xxx

Re: Down to 4 fags a day... Eating everything in sight
Well done at cutting down, that in its self is a challenge!
I quit 4 years ago and was smoking 30+ a day (another 5 years and I'd probably sound like Phil Mitchell haha). Anyway, whilst I remember it being incredibly difficult it was by far the best thing I've ever done so I would always encourage anyone to quit.
As for the cravings, try really strong chewing gum, lots of low calorie drinks and things like lollipops may also help. It's probably not so much that you're hungry but rather feelings of boredom and the need to do something with your hands/mouth! Try painting your nails or doing something to distract yourself! You're breaking a habit as well as an addiction so its all about finding better alternatives (even if it is a biscuit) because you won't need these replacements forever just the mean time :) x

Re: Down to 4 fags a day... Eating everything in sight
I will try the chewing gum good idea,I do have 2 big bags of lollies in the cupboard lol so that's good. I've had 2 fags today so far, I light up and have a bit then chip it n save it for later Im trying to make 3 fags last all day n night which I have done which is amazing for me as I'm a devoted smoker. I'm even getting head rushes so it's definetly making a difference smoking less. I really want to quit before this op just got to stick to my plan and wean down to 2 a day then 1 a day then none :( . Il carry on drinking lots of water and eating good things and get walking the dogs. I knew this would be hard, hearing from you girls who have quit is very reasurring, basically everyone I know smokes and it's so tempting when they offer.... Grrrrrrr xxx

Have you not thought about nicotine patches? They really helped me, I used them for the initial cravings but found after a few weeks I no longer needed them! They're usually cheaper on a prescription from your GP :) x

Re: Down to 4 fags a day... Eating everything in sight
You've made a massive step in cutting down so well done you!
Right now though you have enough to think about with having your BA very soon so if it were me, thinking about dieting right now to save a few pounds whilst I crave my butt off for a cigarette is the last thing I'd want!
If eating right now is the very thing getting you through the craving then go with it for now I say! Get off the cigarettes, have your surgery, get through that healing time giving your wounds the best chance of knitting together with a lower risk of infection with no nicotine, then when you get the all clear to excercise, THEN get on the diet and work your backside off babes, you'll love it once you get into it. A good work out releases so many endorphines and makes you feel so good.... If you can get through all this and stop smoking for good, you benefit two ways - bigger boobs and a bigger bank balance!
I have no clue how anybody affords smoking these days, the cost of a pack of cigerettes is phenomenal!

I agree Cookie just smoking 10 a day was costing around £80 a month, I'm so glad I finally gave up.
Beej, I read the Allen Carr easy way book which was excellent. It's a little like brain washing but in a good way. It really make you question why you smoke and once you have read it you really will feel empowered to stop in your own time. It's not at all patronising or preaching but clever and funny instead. I gave up straight away with no need for NRT or anything else, in fact several of my friends did too. I had previously tried other methods. It's only a few pounds off ebay so it's well worth a try.
Good luck hun,
Xxx

It's better to give up now instead of not at all, you should be proud you have managed to cut down so much.
Smoking can be such a social past time when you do it, sparking up when you're on the phone, going out for a drink taking a break at work.
Keep strong you will do it, you're nearly there already.

Thanks cookie yeah I'm giving myself more things to worry about with being worried about weight gain, I'm a stress head.... I definetly don't want the healing process to be hindered in any way. Yeah once I'm allowed to work out etc... I will definetly do so, I've gotta bit of a beer belly to lose he he he.
Talking of costs of smoking, my mum and dad used to spend £22'000 a year on fags and that's no word of a lie.... That's when Superkings were under £5 a packet.... Ridiculous ... Crazy.... But made em happy. Xxx

My mum and dad are the same. My dads also had to heart attacks, two strokes, well five, 3 mini strokes that he didn't even know he'd had, has terrible circulation problems and STILL smokes! Says it's his only enjoyment so he's gonna die happy I could kick the old bugger if I didnt love him so much LOL. xx
Re: Down to 4 fags a day... Eating everything in sight
