London underground 10 days after op ?????
May seem a silly question to some, I'm trying to organise everything for my BA, my plan is to make my way to london by tube/ train stay in a hotel near by hospital night before as I've got to be there at 7:00 then arrange a taxi home next day after I'm discharged. However the post op appointment is 10 days after was wandering if I would be ok using train/ tube etc for that appointment Or would it be best for my boobs in a car???????

That's a good questions, sorry no answer though. I'm doing the same as you, taking the train to London, then underground to hotel the night before. The hotel is just around the corner form the hospital, so I'll walk in the morning to my 7am admission time. My husband is coming to get me the day after the op.
My first post-op is five days after. I think DH will be driving me because I feel it's too soon. My second appointment is 19 days post-op, but I plan on taking the train and underground on my own that time.
You'll have twice as many days as me for your first post-op appointment, so twice as much healing will have taken place xxx

You only have 5 days to go omg how exciting. Which hospital are you going to? Yeah I'm kinda not sure about tube, I haven't really got anyone that can drive me and can't keep forking out for a taxi coz its best part of 200 quid each time might just have to chance it, saying that may just get to london liverpool street and get a taxi from there if they are hurting me.Plus they have booked my pre ops for stupid o clock in the morning so gonna have to ask them to change it for late morning so I don't have to go up night before more expense!!!!! I'm going through Mybreast and the hospital is St. John & Elizabeth. How about you? I think if you do take the train, then you should take the taxi from Liverpool St. station if that's what feels most comfortable. You're taking the same train as me, the Norwich to London train, only I take it from Ipswich. It's generally a nice smooth quick journey. But it wouldn't hurt to ask if they can make your appointment later so you may get away from paying peak time train fares.
I'm curious, like me, you're travelling to London too even though there are some good surgeons locally. Any reason for that?

Of course you are, just realised we've spoken before!!!! Same hospital I'm with Stephen Hamilton, your going with Simon aren't you????? Yeah think I will get taxi from Liverpool street, think my post op check is 8 am so defo changing that. There was a few in Norwich but even booking a consultation with them didn't feel right, it may sound daft but I had a bad feeling. There was a private surgeon in London can't remember for the life of me his name but he has worked on people from embarrasing bodies and stuff like that, however once I found this forum, I started researching who other people had and come across mybreast, then for some reason new I had to go with them, either Stephen or Simon would've been great but I chose Stephen don't know why, haha. I did think of the hospital group Cambridge but the surgeons they offered me I wasn't sure on, and Dolan park too far away anyway. But I know I've made the right decision as he knows what he's on about with the probs I have. How about you? Why London? Also what hotel have you booked, you say it's just round the corner? Exactly what I'm after!!!, thanks

Re: London underground 10 days after op ?????
Oh yeah ofcourse, sorry my brain's only half working, this time it's my daughter who's sick, she's asleep on the couch right now.
I'm with Simon Withey. I had one consult with a local surgeon in Ipswich at Nuffield who also works in Norwich at Spire, he would have been a good choice too, but in the end I went with Simon, it just felt right. It works out more expensive locally, but by the time I pay for travel and hotel there's not much difference really. London's super easy to get to by train anyhow, and I make it me time anyway, so it's been a good thing in that sense! I'll pm you about hotels xxx

Hey Hon,
I had 335 overs and I'd be happy to go on the tube today, as long as it wasn't rush hour and not too hot down there! You'll need to be able to sit down - though if you're good at standing and have an upright pole you might be ok!
There's always the bus too - as long as you can get a seat!
xx

Re: London underground 10 days after op ?????
Hiya,
I live in London and use the tube every day for work. I was back at work on day 10 and fine although I did aim for the quieter tubes (I can flex my work hours) and didn't squish on to packed ones. I would recommend sitting down though if you can, it took me to about 2 weeks to be more or less comfy holding on to a bar with the tube jolting along the track.
I also got the bus to go to a show on day 6 - that wasn't the most comfortable of journeys but I was fine, just had to be sat down before the bus started moving.

Re: London underground 10 days after op ?????
Hi, I live in London too, and had to get the tube for my 1 week check-up. Like the girls above have said, avoid the rush hour if you can, go to the end of the platform it might help you get a seat. I found that the tube itself was actually fine as it doesn't bounce up and down like a car or bus so there is no jiggling lol, in fact walking was far worse because of the jolting. x
