Sex......When is it safe?
Dear John (What a great way to start a message?!),
Us ladies have been having bit of a debate. When is it safe to resume sexual activities after a BA?
My ps never even mentioned it or that it could cause issues.
Looking forward to your reply. Thanks.

Re: Sex......When is it safe?
Hi
Yes its a subject that isnt talked about much I guess - and it depends a bit upon the individual and the sort of sex that you have!
There is no right answer really but I suggest that my patients can start sexual activity as soon as they are comfortable but wear a bra to begin with until they are pain free in the breast. One American Surgeon who does day case BBA suggests that his patients go out to dinner on the way home and then have "Olympic Sex" that evening - I think thats probably a bit ambitious. Another of my patients asked me why her breast went blue when she tied a bondage rope around it - only two weeks after BBA!! But the implants were fine. I am a bit more worried about teardrop implants than round as they could rotate if manhandled too early - I have only ever had one rotate and I think this was after an encounter in a hot tub at about a month. So rule of thumb for my patients is whenever comfortable but in a bra, and anything goes after 6 weeks ! I hope that helps.

Re: Sex......When is it safe?
Just wanted to ask further on this question. There seems to be a lot of different advice. On reading up on the subject some suggest 1-2 weeks before sexual activity due to the increase in blood flow to the breasts during sex. Have you found there is no risk or is it that the British aren't doing it right (sex) lol.
Re: Sex......When is it safe?
Well I am a mixture of Irish and Portuguese so I couldnt comment on the doing it right bit but I dont think that the blood flow isue is really a problem - I have patients who have done spin classes the day after BBA without problems - think that puts the flow up more than most sexual activity !
